Plustek ePhoto Z300 A4 Document Scanner

My 92 year old father passed away recently and left maybe up to 400 plus packets, which must contain many 1000's of photo prints, which stretch back decades! I needed something quick and simple to start the long process of converting them digitally for posterity and then to share them with other members of the family. Along came the Plustek z300. Perfect! Small file size and decent quality at the default 300dpi - ideal for on screen viewing. It is as quick and easy as advertised, 2 seconds per scan, almost all perfect with no adjustments required - just very occasionally one skews, but really not an issue. Very pleased. Highly recommended!

I have been a keen photographer for over 50 years and I needed a quick and easy photo scanner to turn nearly 10 thousand historical/family prints of varying sizes (A4 to 1" square) and also some documents into a digital archive that can be shared with all of the family. I had been using various flat-bed, hand-held and negative convertors for the last year or so, to transfer around 20 photos/docs a day when I had a spare moment and apart from getting RSI, I was hardly making a dent in the pile! I took the plunge and purchased the Plustek and over the course of a few weeks, mostly just feeding it whilst watching TV, I have completed the task! The SW autocorrects most feeds that do not go in straight and is extremely easy to set up, check and store scans onto my laptop. Yes, as others have said, the photo quality of the transfer can be limited BUT over 90% of all of my photos (and I suspect most people) were only snaps to start with, not "art shots" to display and although you can set some parameters to improve density of a scan or work on the scanned image afterwards, the (relatively) few photos that really need a professional conversion can be done by spending a lot of time/effort with a high density scanner and photoshop SW or just by getting a third party to do it - in any event, I have cleared a large cupboard and have immediate access to my entire library of photos, to share memories with friends and family whenever the moment arises - why else did I keep them all for 50 years?!

Does what it says in description, easy to set up and use. Can scan 50 images or docs quickly then save to file. Very pleased

Works really well.

This scans are 300dpi in literally 2 seconds, it is SO fast to scan a number of pictures and can scan 50 images in 2-3 minutes. It is much slower at 600dpi, however I found I got better results at 300dpi as it doesn't show up as many of the imperfections on older prints! Very simple, it does everything for you, I am in the middle of scanning every photo I own. It does scan images larger than 6x4 as well so long as you put them in sideways, which I found very useful.

Quick and efficient! I am very happy that I could scan lots of family photos and I am now able to watch those on my computer anytime.

I feel for the cost of the scanner there should be a better guide to using it, I still haven't worked out how to make it scanning photo's to their original size, which means for small photo's they are coming up so large that the picture quality is distorted. As it says you can scan anything from receipts and other small items this is not what I expected.

Great scanner. Makes scanning in LOTS of photos much quicker. We'd tried before using a flat bed scanner & lost patience quickly. Easy to install software & set up.

Heb je foto’s met lijm resten, dan kun je ook de foto op papier plakken met de lijmrest zijde , dan blijft er ook niets achter op de rollers van het apparaat. Heb bijv ook pasfoto’s gescand !

Une caisse de près de 3500 photos scannées (avec des pauses ...), enregistrées et classées en trois jours. Ce qui prend du temps, c’est de créer des dossiers intelligents avec date et libellé, c’est de manipuler les pochettes ou de sortir les photos de leur album plastique. La photo est réellement scannée en 1s en 300 dpi. On peut scanner en 600 dpi mais c’est plus long. Le logiciel autorise 50 scans consécutifs en une à deux minutes.. On enregistre le tout et on continue. Les formats vont de timbre poste petit format à A4. Formats d'enregistrement PDF mono et multipages, JPEG, PNG, BMP, TIFF. A la prise en main, on découvre un logiciel très complet. Mais je n’ai utilisé que les fonctionnalités de base. Le rendu des images est excellent. Bref, si vous avez des caisses de photos à scanner en nombre .... Faut faire un dessin ?

I ordered this yesterday and have scanned over 100 images at 600 dpi in my first hour. It was intuitive to setup - no instructions necessary. I am very pleased with the results so far with scanning old photos. I will update my review when I get to more recent photos that are better quality originals. The basic editing tools are great - I have cropped and adjusted when necessary. One user noted the issue with very dark edges on photos being cropped off - I was able to tape a piece of white paper to the back of a photo to solve for this and it fed through the scanner with no hitch. So far, I am thrilled with my productivity and files with this machine - my flatbed was making me insane with the scanning speed! Update 3K+ scans later: I am still loving this machine! I have no issues other than those caused by human error - I sometimes try to put the next photo in too soon. I haven’t figured out how to remove red-eye but the basic white balance is a great fix.

Es muy facil de utilizar. Las fotos se colocan con facilidad y se escanean rapidamente, incluso usando alta calidad. Tambien permite escanear documentos. Lo unico es que no permite volcar lo escaneado en una tarjeta o pincho usb conectado al aparato, requiere conectarse al ordenador y usar la aplucacion que suministran en un cd. Ademas, las instrucciones solo venian en ingles, pero se pueden descargar en catellano desde la web.
