Amazing customer service from 4x4 North America!
To be fair I got a used? Variocage at a bargain price. Said possible cosmetic damage but the door was actually bent on the top. Luckily the metal was pliable and I reshaped this easily. Would have been easier to assemble a new one.Biggest issue...there is a missing screw!! Not the kind you can just get at a hardware store. No idea how I will get that.Oh the key was broken off in the lock. Luckily there is a spare and I was able to remove the piece. It was still a great deal.Update, second key broke in the lock. Apparently the lock is defective. Or the keys are just cheap. Now I can’t lock it. I will try to get a new key made from the broken keys but I think the problem is the actual lock. So much for just cosmetic damage.Update: I contacted 4x4 North America and they are mailing the replacement screw and a new lock!!! Because they are THAT AWESOME :)They think the wrong keys were included.

Rattles while driving
I recently purchased the VarioCage with high hopes of safely transporting my furry companion during road trips. However, my experience with this product has been nothing short of a nightmare. The incessant rattling of this crate during drives has made the entire journey stressful and unsafe for both me and my beloved pet.First and foremost, the primary purpose of a dog crate for car travel is to provide a secure and stable environment. Unfortunately, the VarioCage crate fails miserably in this regard. From the moment I set it up, it became evident that the construction was subpar. Even on smooth roads, the crate rattles uncontrollably, creating an incredibly unsettling noise that can be heard throughout the vehicle. This constant rattling not only distracts the driver but also causes significant distress to the dog inside. Moreover, the quality of the materials used in this crate is questionable at best. The metal bars are thin and poorly welded, resulting in an alarming amount of play and looseness. This not only contributes to the rattling noise but also compromises the overall stability of the crate. In terms of installation, I had expected a straightforward process. However, the assembly instructions provided were vague and poorly illustrated. It took me much longer than anticipated to put the crate together.Given the premium price tag attached to this product, I had expected a far superior performance. Regrettably, the VarioCage fell significantly short of my expectations. It not only failed to provide the secure and stable environment promised, but it also compromised the safety and comfort of my dog during travel.I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this dog crate to anyone in need of a reliable and sturdy solution for car travel. I strongly advise potential buyers to explore other options available on the market, as this particular product is simply not up to par. Save yourself the frustration and ensure your pet's safety by investing in a more reliable and well-constructed crate.

I like it. fits in my lexus nx with seats ...
I like it. fits in my lexus nx with seats folded down and fits in my crewcab back seat. have a 100lb lab that just fits inside cage when fully extended....its snug but my dog is done growing so its fine. havent had a rattling problem yet, but it will make a noise or two if bounced around. I tie it down on all corners and over top because its metal and dont want it to hit a window or the roofliner. took about an hour to assemble with one person going slowly. 2 people could speed up the assembly. would be nice if all the edges were molded plastic for the price. I also have both gunner g1 crates but they are too big to fit inside my truck and car. Its an expensive option for the purpose of just containing a big strong dog, but I liked this option better than tethering or letting my dog loose inside the car.

Protects your pet from injury without blocking his view
This crate is SUPER strong with out limiting your pets view of the countryside. While it is securely fastened to the car. Yes it’s pricey but by the time you replace it with weaker constructed ones and heaven forbid vet bills it pays for itself. Our Airedale bitch is 45-50 lbs. and very active. This crate gives her plenty of room and she still gets to look at the passing scenery.

Tesla Model Y
Not many options for bigger kennels in a Tesla Model Y because of the height. This extended to just over 32” with no problem. Super happy with the fit and construction, not bad to put together either. Love this thing.

One of the Worst Products Ever
This product took hours to assemble, and nothing fit properly because half of the pieces had bent metal. I am very handy, and I still could not get the pieces to fit. In theory, great idea. But, implementation is simply horrible. Few hours wasted on a Sunday. Now I have to repackage and send back. For this price, the darn thing should have come assembled. Do not waste your money (or, more importantly, your time).

Overall a very good buy
Overall I am extremely satisfied with this product.I decided to go with a size that would fit my dog when she is full grown as she’s just a puppy now. The ability to increase size over time is fantastic. It is very well constructed and it’s nice having her safely stowed away and not roaming free or losely secured in a seat.I would give it 5 stars but the provided straps to tie it down (and it needs to be tied down) are not good, I found better ones at Home Depot, 4 for about $25.All in all I’m happy with my purchase and would recommend this to anyone looking for a secure way to travel with their dog.

I assembled my new VarioCage by myself!
My VarioCage arrived quickly and well packaged. I am not a very handy person so was worried about assembling by myself. However the visual directions were very clear and easy to follow. It took me a couple hours which was way less time than I expected.
