These are excellent manipulatives for those learning algebra!

This set has 35 sturdy, double sided (one for positive, one for negative) pieces. Pieces are a bit smaller than I expected, but still plenty large enough to be useful and not so large they take up excess space. They are excellent for introducing substitution, solving simple equations, multiplying many binomials, and factoring some trinomials. There are 5 large squares, 10 rectangles, and 20 small units squares. This means if you are multiplying to get any more than 4 x^2 or 10x, you won't have enough tiles. This is not a problem when introducing the concept, but could possibly be limiting as you move forward. Overall, an excellent value for this set. I'll ponder if I need an extra set to make it applicable to a wider range of problems.

Too overpriced for limited quantities

Algebra Tiles provide a good visual for students who are learning about and working with algebraic expressions. They provide a good way to link their understanding of area and their previous work with number blocks to the new concept. The tiles were very helpful to my students.

Here is my little bag of tiles that took ages to arrive and cost over £20!
