Don't mind the negative reviews. This is an excellent introduction for anyone beginning to study Western Esotericism, and Mark is a respected authority. It's especially written for those following the IHS programs, so to get the most out of it you're going to want to check out some of Mark's other writings. He has a strong online presence. If you search for his name on YouTube dozens of podcasts will pop up. The Institute also has a website which has a link to his personal blog, Vox Hermes, and there are online courses available on Teachable, including some free ones.In short: Know what this is before you buy it. It's a small pamphlet sized booklet, about 50 pages in length, which provides a concise introduction to the theory and practice of Hermeticism, its history, and helpful suggestions for further reading and study. Also note that this monograph is included in Mark's other book, Light on the Path, which is a much more comprehensive overview and study guide for the serious student/practitioner.

$9 for a 40 page "book". This introduction is just that, the opening chapter of what should have been a properly sized book. I'm not saying the content is bad, But I would have liked something more substantial. Calling it an introduction doesn't mean that skimping on the material is okay. Will not buy from this institute again.

Introduction is an understatement. You'll get more info off wikipedia. Very thin "book," which would have been fine if it told anything useful, but even though I'm just starting to learn, I found nothing new or useful here.
