Overall, an excellent bean pot that produced tasty baked beans.
I grew up in a small New England town just south of Boston. Most families there had homemade baked beans on a weekly basis., cooked in the old beanpole. So, I wanted to start baking my own and bought this bean pot. Here's the good: * It is attractive and looks like many of the pots families used back in the 50's and 60's. The color wasn't a deep brown that some apparently expect based on the picture, but none-the-less-was a pleasant shade of brown, reflective of a traditional Boston/New England bean pot. * It easily handled a package of beans with the usual things that go along with it - bacon (instead of the less healthy salt pork), onion, molasses, and three cups of water. * Very easy to fill * It held up well while in the oven for six hours while my first batch was baking. * It held the liquid pretty well and I only had to top it off twice during the six-hour cooking time * It did it's job and the beans were tender and delicious when I pulled them out of the oven Here's the so-so: * It is a little lighter and thinner than the bean pots of years ago, but it still did the job. * The two handles on the sides are small, as others have noted. But, I found when I lifted it with my hands just under the handles (with pot holders of course), it was very easy to remove it from the oven. * Some have mentioned that because of the lip at the top (and on the lid) it was hard to clean. I filled it with water and let it sit for a bit. I had a small (1") nylon bristled vegetable brush that I could reach inside and clean under the lip. I really didn't find that to be a big problem. Six hours in the oven and less than a minute to clean it. I definitely recommend picking up an inexpensive brush to clean under the rim. Also, the opening is big enough that you can reach inside with a sponge to clean the main part of the pot - and I have very large hands. The not-so-good: * The knob on top of the lid is poorly designed. The best description I can give of it is to think of a small cork - with no lip on the top to keep your fingers from sliding right off. That is particularly concerning when trying to remove the lid when it is hot. Rather than being completely straight, it should be flared out at the top (think mushroom shape) so that it can be grabbed without fear of your fingers slipping off and dropping the lid. For that reason I gave it four stars instead of five. Bottom line: if you can deal with the lid challenge, it's an excellent bean pot that should produce great baked beans for you.

Decent
As others have mentioned, the stock photo isn't even close to the actual color which is a light caramel brown. It is not dark brown-at all! Decent pot. Only issue is that the way the lip of the pot is constructed, it's hard to clean and moisture gets trapped since it's raised and kind of inverted.

This is a beautiful pot!
This is a beautiful pot! And it is larger than I expected. I will not be using it for cooking. I plan to get a couple more and make tabletop fountains.

Works Great, No Bubble Over
Plenty of room using 1 lb of Navy Beans, 1/4 lb of bacon, and 1/2 onion. Could probably handle 2 lbs, 1.5 lbs for sure. Mine arrived all one color. I would have preferred the 2-tone, but it's still an attractive crock. The curled over lip prevents bubble overs unless you outright overfill it. It looks a bit small, but for up to 6 people, I'd say it's the perfect size. Yes, the lid handle is a bit narrow and smooth, but not impossible to handle hot with a firm grip.
