Amazing!
Arrived on time and in perfect condition. The book was really useful for my IELTS exam ,as it was the closest any practice book has been to the real examination. Highly recommend if you are aiming for a 7.0+ score on the IELTS.

A well written book with clear audio files that is ideal for those preparing for IELTS
As someone who frequently interviews overseas doctors applying for jobs in the NHS, I was interested to see how this book would be of use to those preparing for English tests. To be registered with the General Medical Council, a doctor from overseas must show that they have taken the academic version of the test and obtained a score of at least 7.0 in each of the four areas, with an overall score of at least 7.5. All of these scores must be obtained in the same, most recent sitting of the test.IELTS tests have a 9 point grading from “1: Non user” to “9: Expert User of English”. 7.0 corresponds to a Good User, “who has operational command of the language, though with occasional inaccuracies, inappropriacies and misunderstandings”.To access the audio files required for the listening tests, I scratched off the grey covering to reveal the activation code. I then created an account at e-Source in Cambridge University Press and was able to access the audio content for this book. The files are downloaded rather than played directly from the website. The narrator in the audio file has a very clear voice with a neutral English accent that is easy to understand. I found it strange that the policeman in the first audio test has an American accent whilst the person reporting a theft is Canadian. Perhaps this is an essential component of an International English test, to ensure that those listening understand English as it is spoken in many different countries throughout the world. The next component is Reading. The book contains many different types of texts with challenging questions to test comprehension. The answers to Listening and Reading tests are contained at the back of the book and are straightforward to self-mark, with a useful guide to scores that are likely to equate with success in IELTS.For Writing, each test has factual information and headlines that are then used as a prompt for the subject to write 150 and 250 words. In this situation, there are answers. The test book instead gives examples of an answer written by a candidate who achieved a middle ranking score together with examiner’s comments which help explain what could have been done to have achieved a higher score.Speaking is the most difficult of all to self-test. However, the book contains a lot of suitable topics which the prospective IELTS candidate could use to practice with a teacher or suitably qualified colleague.Overall, I was very impressed with this book. Many overseas doctors applying to work in the UK find that passing English tests such as IELTS is a major hurdle. I can definitely recommend this series of books as an effective way to practice listening, reading, writing and speaking English.

Great book for preparing the IELTS exam
This is a great practice book for IELTS Academic exam. The format of the practice is the same as the official one and audio for the listening test is downloadable from the link it provided. The price for this book seems to be quite expensive but it is worth it if you want to be well prepared for the IELTS with the correct format and question styles.

This will help you succeed!
The ideal and perhaps only way to access four practice tests from Cambridge of the Cambridge Assessment in English (IELTS). Using these tests will allow you to get to know the format of the exam, understand how to get the highest points that you can and develop your exam technique. The inside cover has a scrape off silver coating revealing a code to use to download the audio for the included tests from the web. Grading is from 0-9 and the tests are split into four sections - Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Scoring is explained and there are example answers in every section, so that you can see how someone achieves a grade 7 for example. This book is clearly the definitive example of tests in this important area and therefore is a necessary purchase for anyone taking the test. A great resource and a superb set of examples to help you succeed!

Repetitio est mater studiorum (repetition is mother of learning)
This is a lovely structured book with easy to digest content meant for beginners as well as for advanced speakers. The content is written using a medium to large font with plenty of line spacing. They didn't cram too much information on a single page so it isn't overwhelming for the user. The examples are easy to understand and coming from somewhat realistic life situations and not something abstract that is not easy to grasp. The tests are written by the same people that write the real IELTS exams, however, the tests used in this book will never be used in the real exam. The tests are separated into reading, writing, listening and speaking which are the main components of any language exam. The audio files are easy to understand since the voice actors are speaking fluently, slowly and precisely, there is also plenty of time given for a person to read the questions beforehand. The audio files have to be downloaded but it would have been much nicer if they offered an online player as well, so you wouldn't have to download each file and maybe lose track of them. The book is quality made and the pages are glued well so it should be quite durable, it has 141 pages of which 40 pages are dedicated to answers and audio transcripts. There is definitely a value in this book however I think it is priced too steeply for what it offers, there are plenty of online IELTS preparation contents and then there are previous Cambridge IELTS revisions that are as good as this one and could be bought used. So, although, I recommend this book I do not agree with its price of £32 at the time of writing.
