the quality of the unit is excellent and the software is simple to use
Definitely a work in progress. There are more things this will not work on than will. NO flat surfaces, monochrome, shiny, etc. We were going to use this to scan faces so that did not seem a problem. However, the z-axis accuracy is off by about 30%. Everything is severely foreshortened. We needed at least ±1mm which did not seem unreasonable. We returned the unit.On the plus side, the quality of the unit is excellent and the software is simple to use. The price is incredibly low compared to $30K for a high accuracy scanner. There is an online processing utility that is supposed to improve the z-axis accuracy, but we did not have the time to make this a "science project".Not a serious 3D scanner, yet. Perhaps in the near future this will change.

Solid purchase
I bought SCANIFY a few months ago after reading some positive articles about it on various 3d printing sites. It was very easy to setup and simple to use. Taking a scan is simple, pretty much like taking a photo with a digital scanner. The free Studio software is also good for slight edits needed before I transfer to my 3D printer. The scanner is definitely an investment, but well worth it for the high resolution scans you get. Compared to the much more expensive scanners (like 10x more expensive), SCANIFY definitely has comparable quality for a fraction of the price. I’ve been using it now for a few months and I look forward to experimenting more. I’m working now on creating cool custom jewelry pieces for my next project. Only reason I’m giving four stars is because sometimes it has trouble taking scans of some objects depending on lighting and how shiny the object is. Other than that, definitely recommend!

Broke the bank to buy it only to be very disappointed.
Not only is this scanner prohibitively expensive, but it's virtually unusable. We first tried less expensive 3D scanners with poor results. We thought if we spent much more money, we'd get better results. This scanner, however, was not only a disappointment, but one big frustration. I can't even begin to list everything that is wrong with this product, and it's not even worth my time. I felt ripped off and cheated when trying to use this scanner, and thankfully Amazon took it back. The market for 3D scanners is still immature and sparse. There is no single product out there that can deliver good results for less than a few thousand dollars. Do you research, use caution, and be sure you can return what you buy if you're disappointed.

Misleading product description
The scanner is advertised that it will scan full subjects, however not without additional software purchases. The scanner is advertised that it will work with Mac, beginning early first quarter 2015, and again by Autumn 2015. Spoke with someone at scanify and it isn't compatible with Mac, nor will it be before the end of the year. Save yourself time and headaches and look for better options.

The item does not perform particularly well in the z ...
The item does not perform particularly well in the z dimension of the scan. That is a big problem as that is a key component of the scans we need.

Easy and Reliable!
We got this scanner about a year ago at my company. We use it to interface with our computer-aided manufacturing software. It was very easy to set up and very easy to use. Usually, with products like this you have to do a huge setup or the software that it comes with doesn't do what you need it to. This was not the case! After taking a scan we were able to do slight edits that were needed in the free Studio software before transferring the scan to our manufacturing machine. The scanner has saved a HUGE amount of time since we did not have to go into our drawing software to create the model in the first place. The 3D scans have great detail and are easy to work with. We've been using the same scanner for about a year now and it has worked great the whole time! I would recommend this for any 3D printing or manufacturing needs.

No stars
What a piece of garbage, save your money! It says in the ad, great for "3D capture of the human form". I wonder what they're talking about. On their website: Q: Can I scan a whole head? A: We currently find scanning a whole head challenging due to the dense hair on the back of the head. Q: Can I scan a whole person? A:Unfortunately, in our current configuration the Fuel3D scanner is not optimized to scan a whole personThey can't capture the "human form" at ALL. This is theft pure & simple! Hopefully, their scam will fail.
