It works just great. Very versatile for mounting
It works just great. Very versatile for mounting. Some reviews pointed out that the dial has very small print, which is true. However it is laid out like a clock. 12 O'clock is sea level, 3 O'clock is 3,000 ft, 6 O'clock is 6,000 ft, and 9 O'clock is 9,000 ft. So, if you can tell time, you can determine your altitude.

It Does The Job.
While the markings are kind of small making it difficult to read it seems to be quite accurate. I found a spot above the inside rear view mirror in my car to attach it without the need to drill permanent mounting holes so it is positioned to be easily referenced. The rotating adjustment bezel is hard to turn.

Cheesy, hard to operate, doomed to fail
This is a typical example of poor product design that could easily have been better. PROS Sort of works a little Nice clean, well-printed dial characters, easy to read CONS Inner dial is aluminum, rubbing on painted aluminum -- draggy, uneven, at times can barely turn the dial. Rubbing causes abrasion of paint and aluminum, which falls off and fuzzes up the glass and gets in the inner workings. Failure will occur quickly. Barometer seems unwilling to hold a setting. Varies by 0.1-0.4" within 10-20 minutes of setting it. All in all, a cheesy instrument not worth the price or giving to the kids as a toy. Small chips of plastic fell out of it as I tried to use it. If you just have to have a cheap altimeter, pop the dial off and put some silicon grease on the parts that rub. It might be useful (for a while) that way.

Great little unit to keep handy on your travels and treks. Nice little carry pouch to keep the dust out and with a see thru window. I keep mine in my everything bag so it's handy wherever/whenever I head out for the day.

Great-but fragile case
Just got it and ran some checks, works well, fine graduations but easy enough to read. Only downside is the case is very thin plastic, so don't site it where it can be knocked, such as on a panel on a Quad. A few pence/cents worth of extra 'beef' on the back plate would double it's worth and not make it heavy. Compared to a hand-held instrument such as a GPS, it is way more easy to break, so on a car fascia it needs to be fixed in a recess or guarded in some way. I'm installing in a panel as a backup to GPS, and will be very careful letting someone sit in it, to ensure their feet don't kick the altimeter.

Not what I wanted.
This product, at least the one I recieved, could not be adjusted and had to be returned. I needed an easily adjusted altimeter for hiking.

Good value...
Works fine...seems to be accurate once set. Only drawback is somewhat difficult to read, especially in low light, but manageable.

Perfect for a classic convertible in the Sierra's.
I live up at 6556 feet near Lake Tahoe and within 20 miles of 6 mountain passes: Kingsbury Summit 7990, Ebbetts Pass 8901, Luther Pass 7737, Echo Summit 7343, Carson Pass 8131, and Spooner Summit 7334, feet... This little jewel is easy to read mounted on the far left side of my rear view mirror of my 1965 Convertible; and, it's accurate... For all you folks who rated this "low" writing you "can't read it", or "it's too small..." Move to the mountains! Here it has utility and all you need to "see" is the "needle moving" knowing the dial increments, which take all of 2 seconds to learn. Needs no batteries either. Five Stars or you need glasses or an I-Phone to function and complain. Perfect for us High Altitude locals with 4WD/AWD, classics, or other "Ridge Runners", with no time to gripe because the views are just too spectacular. JC Hayes, Lake Tahoe Nevada.
