This is a great little tool for reading paper books. I don’t like holding books open, which is why I often prefer to read on a device. This solves that problem. It works perfectly and now I can read hands free.

I am a graduate student currently beginning exams that require a lot of typing quotes from books very quickly. I work from home and am often on a couch, in bed, or at various desks/tables. It can be really tricky to find a way to orient myself, my books, and my laptop to work efficiently.I bought this tool knowing that reviews said it wouldn't work on heavier, stiffer books. I would definitely agree--it doesn't work on some of the brand, brand new soft cover books I have purchased. It works fine on hardcovers and heavy books. I think the issue there is how worn and used the book itself is.I also have a lot of joint problems, and it is not too heavy or tricky to move this around to hold pages, and lets my wrists relax more.However, this tool has been extremely useful for me so far! I am able to hold pages open and work quickly. The large complaint that I have is the texture of the silicone is perfect to pick up every bit of lint, cat hair, crumbs & other detritus that it comes into contact with. I will have to see if I can wrap it in some sort of protective texture, since it's already looking pretty gross.All in all, the other reviews are accurate and it's a great tool--just be aware it may not work on all books, and that it can pick up lint, hair, and other things. Despite those issues, I really recommend it! I have already told some of my fellow grad students to try it.

Oh my...where has this page weight been all my life?! Okay, I get that this solves the first-world problem of keeping a book open while you type, but it truly solves it!I teach college classes, so I'm always reviewing textbooks, and taking notes for lessons. Normally, I would weigh pages down with a stapler, but that's kind of "blocky" and awkward with the stapler falling over at times and the book suddenly closing. I recently ordered a tilting stand with spring page holders. However, that takes up so much of my desk's real estate, and the pages are difficult to turn with the spring holders, so I returned it and began my search anew. Enter the Superior Essentials page holder! It's only 8" x 2", so it's compact enough to fit anywhere. I ordered the clear silicone version in case the rubber one had a chemical smell. I'm not saying that it does; I just wanted to avoid that odor, and silicone is a slam dunk in that department.While the .21 kg/7.4 oz. weight doesn't sound impressive, the page holder was able to hold open a couple stubborn paperbacks and hardbacks with no issue. Plus, the silicone is "grippy" and keeps the pages down. I like that you can wash it to renew the "grippy,” smooth texture. It's designed well and very durable, so I expect it to last for years and years. This Superior Essentials page holder lives up to its name...it's "Superior!" You can’t beat the price for the functionality and quality you get. I would highly recommend it for yourself or for a gift to the avid book reader or teacher in your life. (Hint: this would make a great Teacher Appreciation gift!)
