I loved this lamp in the first several months after receiving it. It’s attractive, seems solidly built, puts out a lot of light, and is dimmable.I now hate it. It has become totally useless. The ball joint holding the shade to the upper arm has become loose, so the shade now flops down, sending the light nowhere near where it should be. While the lamp is designed with the ability to tighten the first two joints, there is no way to tighten the shade to the upper arm.The lamp gets an “A” for attractive design, and an “F” for durability.

Good light source
This was for the office. I would have rather had an on off switch. This was a dimmer on and off. You can't just pull it down or up, it must be screwed into the position you want. It gives off great light. It is a large lamp. I thought it would be smaller.

Superb reading lamp & an excellent value
I now own two of these lamps and find them ideal for reading. The halogen bulb, on a dimmer that doubles as an on/off switch, offers you a full range of eye comfort. At its brightest, it should satisfy even readers with moderate cataracts. And because of its generous 4” face, it puts out a wide swath of light, leaving no dim spots on the page. Although I’m normally no fan of the “contemporary” aesthetic, I really admire the sleek silver looks of this beauty, and I especially appreciate how well it holds whatever positions you set it in. Using its sturdy locking levers, you can adjust its angles both at the base and at the arm’s elbow, and you can also readily adjust the shade, which swivels full-range—side to side plus up and down. There’s an additional lateral swivel where the bottom leg attaches to the base. That 7” base, by the way, is heavy, so you’ll never accidentally tip it over, and the dimmer, set atop the base toward its front, is perfectly positioned. I paid $120 the last time I bought this lamp, which was a week ago, and I consider it well worth the money. The only other reading lamp I’ve found that pleases me as much is the stunning Tolomeo Micro Table Lamp by Artemide, which, because of its smaller scale and footprint, nestles alongside my desktop computer. But that Tolomeo model cost me roughly three times as much as this Lite Source Space Traveller and uses an incandescent bulb. I now find that the same Tolomeo model, when fitted with an LED bulb, runs a whopping $460. You really pay dearly for that upgrade, but, in all fairness, you also get a remarkably engineered and stylish lamp, imported from Italy and winner of several design awards.UPDATE: Alas, after just two weeks, my new lamp developed a loose connection somewhere in the cone or cording. I initially surmised that the bulb was defective and had burned out, so for $6 I bought a replacement for it at Home Depot, seemingly the same brand. But after installing it, the bulb would come on only intermittently, for maybe 5-10 seconds at a time, then go dark again. I reinstalled the bulb several times, jiggling it and rotating it, each time with the same result. I even tapped the cone vigorously, sometimes with brief success. Finally, the thing quit altogether. A pity, for I really like the lamp. But I'm returning it to Amazon for a refund and will find myself what I hope will be a reliable substitute—perhaps another Tolomeo Micro by Artemide..

Bum lamp!
Hopefully the replacement will work just fine. It was clear from the packaging, however, that the same lamp had already been sold at least once and returned, presumably for being defective !

useless junk
classic example of cheap chinese junk. when i opened it and turned it on, i liked the look and function. it is built cheaply and the arm wobbles, but the light worked ok and was dimmable. fine. i set it aside and did not take it to office for several months. set it up and used it for exactly eight days and.... it died. the dimmer switch is so cheap it just gave out when i turned it off. no replacement switch is availble, too late to return. total waste of $125.DO NOT BUY.

Good Light and Flexible
This is a replacement light and I wanted to get a light that could move around and I could adjust the brightness. I am satisfied with this product.

Great lamp at a great price
I wanted a desk lamp with an updated look and superior lighting. This certainly meets my criterion and more. The on/off switch is also a dimmer, so the lamp offers nice ligting when working in the room but not right at the desk. Did my homework, and the price is better than most. I recommend it without reservation.

Great lamp--lousy price
I bought this lamp years ago from like OfficeMax or Staples or somewhere. I still have it--it looks great and works like a champ. My wife was looking for one and came across this listing on Amazon for the same lamp. Problem is, I paid about $25 for this lamp and it's now selling for $100, which is completely outrageous. I don't know why the dimmable desk lamp market has all but dried up (at least sub $100) but it's too bad that this lamp is so expensive now.
