Honey... Honey... Lion!

We love all of Jan Brett's books and this is no exception! Full of her beautiful illustrations and an engaging plot with a fun surprise at the end.

Wonderful book with beautiful illustrations. There are flaps on the pages to lift up, too, as the story progresses. I bought this book to read to my daughter's kindergarten glass for letter "H" week and the kids loved the story and all of the pictures. Excellent book with an excellent lesson.

As always, Jan's illustrations are detailed and beautiful. This is a fun story - with a good lesson on sharing as well.

My son's teacher read this book to him, and he loved it so much that I bought it for him. He wants me to read it over and over. Beautiful illustrations and a great lesson in the tale.

I love Jan Brett and this was a very fun story about sharing. I look for stories that have a moral and teach something so this fit my agenda. I always enjoy learning about animals and people from a different place that I live so Jan Brett has a way of teaching, without really knowing that she is teaching, about something real.

not a true representation of the fierceness of a Honey badger (Ratel) in the wild. Even leopards don't mess with them; neither will a lion. Badgers are fierce animals, loyal to their families, and great hunters on their own. Honey is just a treat; a dessert, though it is true a Ratel will work with a Pilot bird to find the honey caches. That said, this story is based on an African tale and teaches a lesson in sharing. Not only is the coloring and look of an African badger correct, the trees, plants, and other animals are, too. (I know having been to Africa) So, as a story, moral tale, and example of elaborate illustrations, this book is quite excellent. It's up there with Wind in the Willows, the Foxwood series, Percy the Parkkeeper stories, and many, many more that feature the badger for a juvenile audience. If you want more accurate information about badgers, there are many other factual books available for children and adults.

This book is used in the Rooted in Reading curriculum from Teachers Pay Teachers, so it was useful to have a physical copy! I also love the message and the author.

My 3 year old LOVES this book. I really love it too (even though I have read it 500x😂)! The illustrations are perfect per Jan Bretts usual style and the story is simple and great.

This book is impossible to read on a kindle ereader, it has text on the page as part of the story but very small illegals text around the edges and sides, I was expecting a book but got a download...I buy 100s of books from kindle but this is totally in the wrong format! Not happy!
