Great concept and design... except for the plastic handle
I just got this tool today and was very excited to try it out! It worked like a dream for about six or seven small weedy grass clumps in our loose sandy soil. The spring-loaded "release" mechanism to pop out the removed clumps is a brilliant idea. However, when I tried it on a grass clump that was about two inches in diameter, only slighter larger than the others, the plastic handle snapped almost immediately. Apparently it can't take much torsion at all. Everything else in the design is solid metal and feels really robust, but the plastic handle seems like a serious design flaw. I was only able to use the tool for about five minutes before it broke.I'm very disappointed to return this as I feel it would be extremely useful if only it had a reliable handle.

Easy to use and Works Amazingly!
Bought this as a gift for my girlfriend's mom since she pulls weeds by hand a lot. The package did not come with instruction, so I had to check the description on the Amazon page, but it's actually very simple.First, remove the rubber cover on the claws. Center it vertically on top of the unwanted grass/plants. Step on the sidebar with one of your feet, and make sure the claws are all the way in. Begin twisting the weeder tool in a circular motion (might require a few full turns). Pull the tool and the weed out from the ground, and release the weed/dirt by pressing down the button on the top. If the grass stayed, it should be at least detached and easy to pull by hand. However, couple of things to know are that: first, it will work a lot better if your soil is somewhat wet and soft. You may need to water your lawn a bit if it's too dry. Secondly, it will make some visible holes once you pulled out the weed. What I did was shaking off as much dirt onto the hole and flatten the hole as much as I can, so It doesn't look as terrible.Overall, it worked very well for us.

This thing is slowly making me not hate my yard
I moved into my house in November 2018, and the yard just seemed to be meh because a) nobody had been living in the house for a couple months and b) winter was starting. Didn't seem like a big deal to me, but this is the first house I've ever owned. I haven't had a yard in years (was apartment living for a while). So spring is upon us, and my grass started growing a lot. There were weeds everywhere which was annoying and made the yard look terrible. This tool is so easy to use. I just got it today and used it this evening. I cleared out my whole back yard of weeds in about thirty minutes (average sized yard). Going to do the front yard tomorrow. It's making it way easier to thrown down some new soil and plant new grass.PLUS - I have a dog so was nervous of using weed killers because she likes eating grass. This is way better for the environment and my dog's health.

Versatile for generations
Consider the FLORA GUARD 3.3 as you compare weed removal tools. I'd like to say this rugged tool is a tool I carry around proudly. I admire the craftsmanship and applaud myself for making the perfect selection of this no bending weeder. So, so much fun mucho fun to knock that weeding task down. So much quality in my hands like a boss, in this mighty addition to my spring and summer. No doubt this is the current best choice for your selection. Yer I be using it for years and I had to share this with my favorite online shopping community. Every generation of yard maniacs will be using it.

Able to remove Poison Oak in the winter.
I bought the Flora guard in hopes that it might help me remove poison oak from my property during the winter. The spokes allow me to wind the root several times around the base before pulling. It has been pretty effective at removing the plants without having any skin contact with the stems. I am not sure I would want to do this when the poison oak plant has leaves. Overall, I like the T bar on the top and the heavy metal construction. The button will push the root off the bottom tines effectively.

**Updated** 5 stars for the replacement
I am changing my review to 5 stars due to the great customer service, who reached out to me and offered to send me a new weeder to replace the one that broke. If this replacement doesn't give me any trouble I'll keep this review at 5 stars, as it did work well for getting those weeds.Previous review:It was working great for an hour, then the weld that holds the 4 claws together broke. Now had a set of two claws still connected to each other but moving independently of the other 2 claws that they were once welded to. Continued using weeder somewhat successfully despite the loose claws, but then the inner center shaft completely broke as well. Now it's useless. I liked this weeder until it broke. Unfortunately a weak weld made it garbage.

Excellent weed retriever
The Flora Guard works beautifully. It especially does a good job on dandelions which have a thick, long, stubborn root. Since its been raining the job was easy going. The job goes a lot smoother if you have someone helping you rake or picking up the extracted weeds. So someone does have to bend down. The only negative aspect is that a hole is left behind after you've pulled out the tool.

This is the best quality weed tool i have ever had.
I got what I paid for, previously bought a cheap one that was nothing but plastic and needless to say they snapped pretty damn quick, so I went for these and couldn't be happier, i keep saying that I shouldn't just go cheap all the time as I always end up regreting it because I always have to replace with the more expensive more better quality item, Yet i still go oh that's cheap i will get one, when will I learn 😖, should have got this first off its a good tool 👍😁

Easy to use on our allotment wear gloves though! No bending down does the job easily. Well made and sturdy. Once you have a bucket of earth and weeds just shake off the excess soil to reuse. Worth every penny.
