Perfect replacement for factory speakers
I've owned a Kia Picanto for a bit over a year (smaller brother of the Rio, not available in the US) and the stock speakers are just terribly bad. The car comes with 4'' speakers in the dash and 5.5'' in the rear doors, needles to say they are paper cones. To add insult to injury the dash speakers are mids only, they are not coaxial and my particular model doesn't even come with the 1'' tweeters in the front doors, nor the connection/grill for them. Cue in the Kicker 41DSC44.I was very wary at first that a pair of $20 speakers would make a big difference over stock ones (I would have loved to get a set of Infinity speakers), but given that my dash gives no clearance for regular coaxials where the tweeter protrudes I needed something where the tweeter was flush with the contour of the speaker. Installation was a bit tricky (my car also has non-standard fitting, using only 2 anchor points as if it was a set of 3.5'') and the holes are further apart than what a regular 4'' comes with. After some fiddling around and filling the gaps with foam everything was golden. Now let me tell you, the sound at first was kind of tiny and lacked punch. I was not very pleased, even though I now had highs for the first time in my car. However, that situation changed as the speakers were used more and more. A few weeks later, it turned out that these speakers need some burn-in time and now they sound amazingly good. Highs are crisp, mids are clear and I can even hear some bass from the front over what the rear stock 5.5'' speakers produce. Definitely a great experience I wanted to share, and especially letting other customers know that these speakers only start to shine after some burn-in time.

These Kickers Kick Butt!
I put these speakers into my car to replace some older Kenwoods that had blown, replaced on warranty, and promptly blown again. I know what you're thinking, "This guy probably blasts loud music so it's his fault for blowing the speakers." That my friend, is not the case. As a matter of fact, I'll tell you that I have a simple Kenwood Excelon KDC-X599 reciever with no amplifier, and my volume knob never passes 17. The Kenwoods blew because they were not that great. That's irrelevant, what is relevant is the fact that these speakers fit perfectly in place of the Krumwoods I replaced and now I have wonderful sound quality at half the price of the old speakers. I even bumped the volume up to 30 for testing purposes, using Rush's Tom Sawyer as my test song. Not only did it not blow my speakers, it sounded delightful.I hope this helps you in consideration of this product.Oh, and in all fairness, the 6x9 Kenwood speakers on my rear deck are spectacular. That's a good brand too, it's just that these Kicker 4" speakers blow the Kenwood 4" speakers out of the water.Oh, and to answer your question in regards to the picture... Yes I am using a black PVC pipe cap as the housing. It was $2 at Home Depot and works great, just great.

I bought these to replace the 20 year old door speakers in my 97 Toyota Corolla. The car is my beater so i didn't want to spend much to get better sound. I'm still running the factory radio which probably puts out about 10 to 15 watts per channel which is enough to run these little guys, however I know they could handle much more than that. At the minimal power I can't say I noticed anymore bass out of the compared to the factory full range, but there was definitely better clarity and highs with the tweeters. The build quality is solid and they frames appear to have a nice powder coat that could fight off any potential corrosion since they are installed inside the doors. The magnets are nice and heavy, especially compared to the 6.5 inch JVC's I bought to replace my rears. These were purchased for $20 shipped as an open box item, so I would definitely say they are a good value for a stock replacement.

Quality Speakers
Upgrading my 2009 BMW 535i speakers because I am not happy with stock speaker clarity, my car has standard 10 speaker HiFi system, stock speakers are exactly 3ohm (I measured them not 2ohm like ppl saying) except under seat subs are 2ohm. These kickers are actual 3.5ohm. After replacing 2 speakers in the back dash with these kickers so I can compare them to the stock ones on the front doors Clarity: kickers win, kickers sound clear, crisp tight bass. Very nice speakers for $32, I wouldn't pay more than $38 for these kickers Loudness: stocks win, stocks are like 20% louder but not as clear crisp and tight as kickers. I also have 10" Polk sub in the trunk that I just installed recently, I used shallow box which is designed for truck so it doesn't take much space. Kickers and Polk sub sound much better than stock.I also have 2011 335i with L7 sound system that I will replace all 4" speakers with JBL GTO428 later this month. I will write a review for JBL gto428 when I finish the project.

Good for the price and as long as you are not an audiophile probably exactly what you need.
These replaced some old blown out speakers. I can say that compared to those speakers these were a grand and remarkable improvement. Assuming you make sure these are right for your application they should install just fine. Overall the quality is good for what are pretty inexpensive speakers, sadly, I think my car audiophile days make it hard to love these speakers. I have found on more bass heavy music they get distorted pretty quick on low frequencies even at lower volume levels.Overall, these were exactly what I needed for the car, in hindsight I probably would have looked to try to fit a bit larger speaker (assuming you have that luxury) even if it took a little bit of modification, or gone up one step in quality.

Good price, good speakers.
Picked these up to replace in-dash speakers for a 92 toyota pickup. Perfect fit, sound great.Due to usps capacity issues, they were lost somewhere in SoCal. Non Amazon seller was awesome, and sent another pair, no questions asked. Would have given them six stars for their customer service if I could.
