LOVE IT
I was so excited to get my Microsoft Surface! It runs great and I love that it came with Microsoft office features (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, One Note). If you are in school, this is an AMAZING tablet to have. Once you get the hang of everything, it is a very user-friendly device. I do have a couple complaints about the shipping and description though. This took WAY too long to get to me. I had to wait almost 2 weeks for it to finally come in. But once it came, of course I was extremely happy! Also, it was listed as a 32GB Surface with a black TOUCH cover. It actually came with a black TYPE cover...At first I was a little frustrated because I had to wait so long for it to get to me and then it didn't come with what I was expecting. But with that said...I think if I were to use the touch cover and type cover and compared them, I would much prefer the type cover. You can tell that you're hitting the keys. They aren't loud when you're typing and the texture of them is like a soft rubber silicon kind of material so they will not harm the screen of the Surface. Also... I think what made me the most happy about this product (and this seller) is that the tablet and keyboard came in the original packaging. You could tell it had been opened but I was very happy to see that they sent it in the original box, it came with all the owner's manuals, everything you would get as if you were purchasing it completely new. Thanks Wiseup! Even though the shipping took a while, I am VERY happy with the product!

Quite Satisfied - does all I need for work and play.
I have been using this for about six months. I also have an iPad. Which is now sitting at home unused. I needed something that was highly portable, easy to use, and able to do document editing and creation using MSOffice products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). I tried to use the iPad. Even got a Bluetooth keyboard. But it just doesn't work for me. Yes, Microsoft now has Office for iPad available on the Apple Appstore. But without a pointing device other than the touch screen - it is pretty clumsy to work on MSOffice tools. The Microsoft Surface RT has a USB. I plug in my wireless mouse dongle and voilà - I have a lightweight desktop/laptop environment for about half the cost of the iPad (without the keyboard).I purchased my Surface RT in Sept of 2014 for $319.00. I notice the price has increased to $408 as I write this. The Surface Pro 3 costs about twice as much. The new Surface Pro will probably be released by Microsoft sometime in Q2 2015.This might be a good time to buy this unit. Or see what happens to the price.I am quite satisfied with my purchase. I am able to work on all the documents that I need for my profession and watch movies, games, web browse too. All-in-all a good value and good performing system. IMHO ;)

The Microsoft Surface does not turn on. I submitted a retrun and have heard nothing!!
It does not turn on.At this time, it has been 5 days since I submitted an email to AIM USA, I have not heard anything from them. I think that this amount of time not hearing from them is too long!!I requested the return because the second day after I recieved the Surface, it did not turn on. At that time, I only wanted a new one that works. Now, I am consideringjust retrurning it for good, and looking elsewhere. When you buy a product on the Internet, there is a small level of concern for how the product will be supported if there is a problem. Since I dont really have a store to go to, and talk to a live person about the problem. I hope that this process of buying the MIcrosoft Surface from Amazon via the Internet does not leave a bad taste in my mouth about the Internet in general, and Amazon specifically.

Not a heavy duty-test, but some may find this useful.
This entire review is written on the surface tablet with the accompanying touch keyboard. I have ordered refurbished version and will bereturning it.Sorry, among all yhese masterful reviews, mine is pretty sparse. no commenting on the specs, no hardcore analysis of the tablet under various conditions. I bought it with a simple goal in mind, and will be posting about my experience with that simple goal: using this tablet as a note-takerand paper-writer for school. thus, most of my review will focus on the keyboard itself. the tablet seems exceptional, and I have very little negative to say about it, in spite of my rathr lightweight use of it.on the internet, I m using the desktop version of I.E., rather than the metro. because of this, the websites are showing up fairly small. in spite of this, the touch screen is so effective that I was able to get from the pre-builthomepage, to amazon, to writing this review without a single snaffoo in sight. it works fast, evenwhen I have a number of apps running together, and while I am not upgrading this, as it's being returned, I think it would only be enhanced by the upgrade to windows 8.1, even if it is the RT version.the following was written in a word document on the keyboard prior to writing this review:So, this is a test of the windows 8surface keyboard to see how it responds to a normal typing speed and normal pressure. I’m not exactly typing super-fast or with th correct hand placement, but I am typing in a way that is not pecking or moving slowly across the keyboard wih special care either. There is a click produced by the tablet upon sensing a keypress, but no actual keysound generated from the touch keyboard. This means that if you cannot have sound on, that you will probably had a harder time. The spaces between letters is also quite small; since this is a flat surface and there are no raised keys as there would be on a normal keyboard, this means that there is an increased risk of missing your key or not hitting one altogether. The space key seems to work a bit better than others have suggested, but it does still miss and this s more apparent mid-sentence when you are typing for long points without punctuation to slow you down.Another flaw is that, unlike a keyboard, the keyd do not respond to prolonged pressing, while this is okay for the letters, as you sometimes don’t want it to happen. But on the backspace key it took about three tries before I could get a prolonged backspace. For a piece of equipment designed so you can type and created word documents on it with the speed and ease of a laptop of desktop computer, this is a time consuming flaw that can easily ruin the computing experience. However, at the end of the day, this keyboard deffnitely seems to work a bit better than other reviews sseem to have implied, and while it definitely does not replace a norml keybord in terms of comfortor accuracy, I would say that it could be fairly good for some, and if you learn to control your movements on this and type in an orderly fashion, using a bit more pressure and forcefulness than you would on a normal keyboard, it couldl be quite useful. Sadly, in writing this short three paragraph review, my shoulder is increadibly sore and my hands feel like they have somekeyboard equivilant of whiplash. It’s not all that great, and sadly this keyboard and the accompanying tablet will be returned, as I have found a better option in the android mwrket, nmely the asus t300, which comes with a keyboard as well, and retails on te refurbished marketfor $240 on average, meaning for the same price of this surface tablet, you can get the tablet, keyboard, a protective case, and possibly a pen or other accessories to enhance your use and enjoyment of the item. I qdmt, during this review I did hit the backspace butto a few more times than one should, when making a review of the keyboards performance, where typos and eroros are there for everyone to see, but this was more out of habit, anddue to errors in my typing derived from my own fingers, rather than tye keyboard. I have kept most of this review virgin, and I will say that the keyboard is increadibly well-made and that my hands had verylittle time required to adjust to the smaller size compared to a desktop keyboard. Of, course, depending on the make and model you us, your experience may differ.I k ow for certain that my fingers cannot get used to the placement of the control buttons, such as the page up/down buttons and those. The skinny arrowkeys as well offer some issue with their placement, and in using them I found myself hitting the wrong one far too often.Thetablet alone has very nice function, for an RT product, but I do feel that for the money you are putting down, ( and inspite of wha some people my think, I feel that$300+ is a large amount, and I’m sure the target audience for this tablet, namely students and the like, would agree.) you are probably not getting your money’s worth. I’d suggest getting the tablet cheaper elsewhere and then springing for the type keyboard, which seems to still get mixed reviews, but ultimately has far moreplusses than the touch. Or I would suggest searching elsewhere for atablet and keyboard design better thought-out. Asus makes many great tablets, and f the windows format is an absolute must for you, then they make some good tablets only .5 inches smaller than this one carrying the prorammme. However,s adly, only the android version comes bundled pn amazon. However, looking at word 2013 on the RT tablet, I would saythat you get much the same performance from the Kingston software available on android devices. Of course, the winows programmes have some plusses, but all the documents I’ve made in Kingston work in word and can be pruced up fairly easily, meaning that you can use it effectively for taking notes and rouch-drafting papers and the like on your tablet, then transfer these to a computer, be it your own or one at the school, to apply the finishing touches that will make it really ideal. Though, to be honest, in my experience the basic stuff is generally just fine, and unless you’re actually doing a class to show what you can do in Word ane the like, the Kingston app with be more han enough to get you on th right track.upon writing this review, I'ce also noticed that the control keys work rather well, which is surprising as most tablets, even windows ones, have behaved horrible when attempting to use these with a Bluetooth keyboard.I suppose, ultimately, if you:Type slow and deliberately like this, stopping to re-hit keys, double or triple tap the space, and can rely on the tablet-made clicks to guide you along, then this table and keyboard are for you. If,however:You are like me and type very fast, or are placed in situationwhere you have to type very fast, including he ocassional word or phrase that's very hard to type as fast as the teacheris saying it, and a misspelling could cost you a grade, such as the medical field with words like zygomatic, or xipoid or endorcrine, then I would say you want something totally and utterly reliable and as close to infallible as a keyboard can get. This is not that keyboard. Thank you.
