Nice little calculator

I first got this calculator model some thirty-odd years ago. It still works, I have never changed the battery, and the solar panel is great. Even after being in storage for several years, it charged up off the solar panel in the ambient light in the room and was working in a few minutes. It is thin, light weight, easily fits in a pocket or pencil case, and does the basic computations. I most recently bought this one for my toddler niece who wanted to keep my original, but I didn't want to give it up because I still use it for quick computations at my desk, even with my (much more powerful) computer around. The display is still clear, the buttons are much more responsive than many of the "dollar store" varieties, and it has a useful memory function. Being limited to the basic four functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), this is definitely not a substitute for a scientific calculator or a graphing calculator, but if you just want to tally your bills or check your addition on your homework problem, this is just the thing. The new model is nearly unchanged and even came in a nice little protective case. My niece loves her new calculator, and it is perfect for her to learn her numbers and basic math. I hope it will also serve her well for her studies and basic computations as mine has for me for many years. Mine has certainly stood the test of time!

The calculator was (in itself) truly perfect. The only problem was having to open the casing but, after a sort while, I got the hang of it and the problem resolved itself.

Great to drop in messenger bag/backpack/briefcase or even carry in portfolio. 8 digits handle most calculations. Three key memory (m+, m-, cm). square root and percentage keys. Standard calculator, battery/solar powered. Good price. Should last a long time. Button size generally good fo such a compact calculator. Blue soft buttons on a light grey background.

I needed a small calculator to carry in the glove compartment of my car so I could keep track of gasoline consumption. This works great, is easy to use and takes up very little space.

The calculator works great but, it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. It's well worth the price 😄(I was actually looking for a wallet, super thin, checkbook calculator and the ads through me off.)

I really like this little calculator and it is great to carry in my purse. I had a different brand calculator with a protective cover/shell that finally broke, so I needed to find a replacement. And unlike the other one, this time, I wanted one with a CE key and also a cover that flips all the way around to the back. And this little Sharp EL243SB has both.1. I like the fact that this is both solar and battery. In the low light, it changes over to battery for uninterrupted functioning and a consistent bright, clear display.2. I also really like that the cover on this snaps shut and stays closed until I open it again.3. I also like the small size as it makes it easy to tuck into a small space. Yet the sizes of the keys are adequate, although I do sometimes hit the wrong key.4. I use this calculator for simply math, such as balancing a checkbook, so the features of this product work well for what I need it for.Note that there is no power on/off key, which may bother some folks. Closing the cover eventually turns off the calculator automatically. And also as a right handed person, one tiny minor preference is that the lid be hinged on the left so it would open from right to left, instead of the other way around. However since this cover hinge allows flipping the lid all the way to the back of the calculator, then that is a minor thing.But all in all, am very happy with this and will buy a couple of extras to have on hand.
