The non-slip textured bits on the back are AMAZING. I've always just bought the cheapest ruler I saw, but after getting a Creative Grids ruler once, I've noticed I tend to prefer them over others. This one seems to be a great size for my workflow. It's constantly out on my cutting table for trimming and cutting fabric. I have a 2.5" x 18" ruler as well from them that is awesome. If you're a quilter, give Creative Grids a try. I can't go back to other rulers now - These don't slip, they're super easy to read, and there are so many sizes that I can find almost anything I need. Pricing is pretty on par with the competition too usually (Amazon sometimes has them listed overpriced, so check local quilt shops and elsewhere to be sure)

I'm a ruler fanatic and have several types and sizes. Of all the rulers I use, this one is used most often for squaring my quilt blocks. I love how easy it is to line it up to the center and square the blocks perfectly. It's easy to read, too.

I'm a huge fan of Creative Grids tools. I now have 3 of these square rulers to help me measure fabric for the bags that I make. I love the grips on the back of the ruler - it really does keep the ruler from sliding on the fabric. And I like how clearly they're marked.
