Q: how to remove dust catcher

There are two clips on the bottom toward the hose that you squeeze in to remove the dust catcher.

Q: Can you turn off spinner

The spinner does not have a switch because it's not a power-head. The spinner is driven by the suction passing through the head. Better to switch to the combination area rug/hardwood floor head if you don't want to damage delicate rugs or the fringes. When you do want to use the spinner, though, best to have a completely emptied out bin so the suction is at its highest.

Q: does this vacuum clean heavy carpet also? like does it clean shag and high pile carpets very well?

It cleans medium to medium high pile carpets very well. I have never had any trouble with mine. Works very well on small rugs, bare floors too.

Q: Does the carpet attachment have a roller bar(beater brush)? I have delicate long shag area carpets and I need suction only.

It doesn't have a beater bar as with the old power heads. It has a rotating brush, which operates off airflow around the head (suction). It does great on cut pile and slightly deep, not so well on "sculptured." I can't speak to shag. The nice thing about no motor in the head is when it grabs a sock or rubber band, it stops and doesn't do any damage. No belts to break or come off track. It's not quite as powerful as the old power heads, but I prefer it.
