Amazing little camera
I bought this with little expectations due to the cost. I was totally amazed when I installed this camera and hooked up to the "4.3" color monitor. First off this camera has a great 170degree view so I see everything behind my truck now. Second, it works in the lowest of light and at night I can still see things when I am backing up... granted it doesnt have night vision or or anything crazy but it can use low light sources to give a picture. The third thing that I liked was the grid that it displays for distance, it helps out. The last thing about it is that it comes with the hardware to cut the whole which I found to be on the small side and had to rotate the drill bit to expand the hole. *I would suggest using clear sealant on the back side just to keep water out of the hole you drilled into your vehicle. I put sealant around the base when I installed and wiped up the excess so water wouldnt penetrate and go into my tailgate of my truck. The power wire is very thin so the power and ground source need to be soldered too or splice into the power and ground wires and use electrical tape to wrap. The video cable that came with was long enough to go from my tailgate along the frame to the front of my truck, through the firewall and across the driver side to the top middle dash area behind the stereo in a newer Nissan Frontier. If you have a larger truck then you might need to consider buying a 3' or 4' extension but overall it works great.

Different versions, different quality
I purchased and installed this July of 2012, and just last month (almost exactly a year) it died. Since I had already drilled the hole in my truck, I ordered the same thing again. Nope, new one is a different size and much lower quality. The lines are different, the camera isn't straight in the housing (the camera has to be pointed to the right to see straight behind the vehicle) and it doesn't have as wide a viewing angle up and down, so I can no longer see my trailer hitch. Also, the included drill bit is too small for the camera to fit through so it has to be hogged out a bit with sandpaper, and it has a different power connector than the old version so I couldn't do a simple swap out.

A unique product. A must buy if you are looking for a CMOS camera
Good price. Works as advertised. It is a great installation for underneath a curved bumper for a stealth look. Installed it in a Mazda 3. I really do not like that button look of these on the bumpers as it ruins the oem look. But this works really good.Video quality is fine. No problem with it.The product also comes with a DRILL BIT for the camera installation hole.

Simple Yet So Confusing
I installed this camera on my 2007 Ford F-150. The camera has a good mounting position near the license plate inset of the bumper along the plastic trim of the bumper step pad. The wire feed runs along the wiring harness from the hitch to the rear driver cab where a hole was drilled and sealed with a grommet. The twin wires are connected to the reverse trigger wire (black with pink stripe) and ground in the instep wiring trough. My JVC unit is also wired to the same wire near the driver side kick plate trim. The video is connected to the camera input of the head unit. The red DC is not connect (used for auxiliary monitor). When I shift into reverse, the head unit switches to camera feed but there is no picture. I have tested and confirmed there is voltage applied to the twin wires to the camera when in reverse and my unit is switching to video feed. It appears either the camera is not transmitting video or is not powering up. There is a small red wire extending out of the video cable end that I did not connect. Other comments stated that was the monitor trigger. My head unit has a built-in trigger so I did not connect this wire. However, could it be required to signal the camera to transmit? Customer service has been basically non-existent. Instructions and installation instructions are basically non-existent as stated by other commenters. Amazon provided incorrect contact information to this company. I'm drawing a blank, short of connecting the small red wire and seeing what happens or order another, test, and repeat. HELP! 3 stars since I haven't actually been able to use it.

Great picture for the price
Fit perfectly in my Dodge Ram tailgate handle where the billion dollar factory one was to go. Did not need to replace the latch, just drilled, and fit. The adjustment up and down is a great feature in the eyeball optic. Picture is as expected, not HD by any means, but absolutely great enough to see objects clearly! However, wiring and instructions were non-existent.#1--The wires for the connection to the reverse light were 6' down the cable line...why? to use all the cable to the cab, this had to be spliced to reach back to the reverse light.#2--The 26 gage wire is lacking. Not confident this will stand the test of time and mileage.#3--The harness to the cab was long enough, but had a wierd wire poking out of the video RCA? no detail on what this was or how it worked. After guessing it was the actuator for the monitor. Why just not say that in the instructions?#4--Still have no idea what the red RCA is for. Guessing power, but for what. Is this to power the camera when not in reverse? Again, why is this not noted in the instruction, or lack there of.All in all, Ill get one more for backup given the bang for the buck! Now that I guessed my way through the lack of instructions.
