Combining dramatic bass response with the excellent balance and accuracy for which Focal speakers are traditionally known, the Chorus 716 V is the middle sized floorstanding model in the 700 V series. It features a 2-1/2 way design in which the two 6-1/2-inch woofers work in tandem, with only the higher unit also reproducing the midrange (each woofer's low-pass crossover is configured for a different frequency). The result is rock solid bass and a wide, deep soundstage. Thanks to the improved suspension and magnetic structure in the 1-inch Focal inverted dome tweeter, the 716V elegantly reproduces the extended highs from vinyl, SACD and high-res downloads. The two 6-1/2-inch Polyglass bass drivers are very light yet extremely rigid, for great midrange and tight bass response. The Chorus 700 V Series Focal is known for cutting-edge loudspeaker design. Focal engineers used expertise gleaned from the development of their reference loudspeaker (the $90,000 Grande Utopia BE) in the creation

More musical less bass
I have been using these for past one week.Excited about all good reviews and french in house mark, got them.I think this review helps to set you expectations right. There speaker have good mid and high frequency response. They are bit on face sound for me (It varies from ear to ear), I do get fatigue and ear burn after listening for 30 mins.If you fine with sharp, bright high frequency sounds and love listen to stereo music more than 50% of your time, this is very good speakers.in past I had KEF IQ90 towers, for me they are neutral sound. Compared to them, focal 716v is bright (May be harsh for some people)Bass is hallow and little boomy. Not tight. You really need very good sub woofer to match at least until 150hz cross over. You do not have depth or good sound image for movies due to it's bass draw back.Note: I have used Denon AVR X3000 with these, result may vary with other av receivers.Pros:Musical and all instruments are audible and clearGreat for stereo listeningcons:Bright and on the face high frequencies, may tire your ears with in 30 minsBoomy and hallow bass (closing ports does not help much)Lack of depth and sound stage for movies.Need great sub to compensate it's bass.

Great Speakers
These speakers replaced my Klipsch synergy floor speakers. I use these with a Klipsch rc52 ii center speaker and SVS subwoofer and Yamaha Aventage receiver.. These are first rate speakers with terrific clarity from the drivers. I remember seeing another review on Amazon, basically stating that these are overrated. My experience is just the opposite. The quality control on materials and design seems to be superb. The V series is a real bargain, since the newer version 716 has a couple of minor tweeter adustments and are street priced at over double the V series. These speakers are location sensitive, so you may have play with placement and the receiver settings to get them to sound the way you like them. Only disadvantage I have noted is that they cannot be bi-amped, and quality speaker cable matters.
