Garrett At Pro Metal Detector

I am new to metal detecting this year... I have used 3 different models Fischer75, an old tesoro, and a garrett ace250... Out of these three I primarily used the ace250 over 2 months untill I was able to afford my own. This was a Great easy to use beginner metal detector. Well, I finally saved enough money to purchase the AT-PRO. First I made sure that it was recently off of the production line. Your able to call the company your buying from and you can tell when they were ran by the serial numbers... You DON'T want a first production ran AT-PRO cause of the glitches they had with the housing and other bugs when it first came out. So when it arrived it was easy to assemble and it already comes with enegizer batteries in the housing. This is very easy to use in either PRO mode or the STD mode. the STD mode was a lot like the ace150,250,350. Same garrett "ding" when you find a desired target. In the pro mode it's more advanced and lets you hear the depth and size of the target. The AT-PRO is great for coins (not sure about other modes) yesterday was the first time out with it and I got over 40 coins and only picked up 6 pieces of trash.... that is a GREAT RATIO!!! NO soda can tops!!! Pin Pointing was SUPER EASY. Even pulled out a quarter in a pile of nuts and bolts. I plan on taking it out this week to the lake on Saturday to test it's water durability. This comes with the new PROformance coil wich is slick, it goes deeper and covers more ground. The only CON that I noticed was there was no backlight on the unit. So if it's dark I'm not sure how your suppose to see what your target could be. The AT-PRO is a crazy good metal detector. Definetly the best in its class.

I just bought this detector. It has a lot of features to learn how to use. I am impressed with their usefulness. It is a definite step up from the Ace 250. No knock against the 250. It Is a very competent machine. The AT Pro just has more tools to help discriminate. It also seems to work deeper. Being waterproof to 10 feet is a big deal, as I do plan to use it in fresh and saltwater. It opens up a lot of detecting opportunities in shallow water. I'll update this review in a few months to let you know how it does.

The garret at pro is a decent metal detector. It is good for relic hunting and hunting in freshwater but I wouldn't recommend it near any ground with bad mineralization it gets pretty unstable and begins to false. I'm not sure if it's my soil or the at pro itself with this next issue I can't seem to get it to go above 4 bars sensitivity without becoming unstable. I can't really recommend the machine in general though as it has not worked as advertised.

I BOUGHT A AT PRO AND AFTER A WEEK IT STARTED MESSING UP SO I HAD TO SEND IT TO GARRETT. I GOT IT BACK AFTER 2 WEEKS WITHOUT METAL DETECTING AND IT STILL WOULD NOT WORK RIGHT!!! I GOT ANOTHER NEW AT PRO FROM GARRETT 45 MINUTES AGO AND IT WON'T EVEN TURN ON!!! ALSO TO ADD TO THIS BS I HAD A NEW GARRETT PINPOINTER, AFTER A COUPLE WEEKS IT WOULDN'T WORK RIGHT EITHER SO I SENT IT TO GARRETT GOT IT BACK AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND AFTER A HOUR OF USING IT IT STOPPED WORKING SO I SENT IT BACK TO GARRETT AGAIN AND THEY SENT ME A NEW PIN POINTER. AS SOON AS I GOT THE NEW PIN POINTER I SOLD IT AND BOUGHT A NEW WHITES PIN POINTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GARRETT CAN KEEP THEIR CRAP AT PRO I WILL NEVER BUY GARRETT PRODUCT AGAIN!!!!!!!! NOTHING BUT CRAP AND NOW IT'S BEEN OVER A MONTH AND I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GO METAL DETECTING THANKS TO GARRETT AND THE CRAP METAL DETECTORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have owned many metal detectors this one has not lived up to my expectations.The sounds of the metal detector are hard to hear without the headphones. And plugging the headphones in is not very convienient.Pin pointing is difficult in trashy areas.The fact that it is water tight is nice.

It's a powerhouse. I'm older though and find the screen pretty tough to read, esp. in certain bright conditions. But I love it, nonetheless.

Works great at the beach or in the fields. Very accurate! If you get a ping, there is definitely something in the ground! I sometimes doubt the hit but eventually find the buried metal. It is very sensitive so I like to use the low sensitivity setting or you will get hits from underground pipes buried far beneath the surface! Excellent product. The only negative thing is to NOT wear the headset if you have sunscreen on, like I do at the beach, as it will dissolve the vinyl on the headset! Other than that, great, durable, accurate product. I highly recommend it and would buy it again!

Simply put. one of the best machines on the market for the money. You will not find a better machine unless you spend almost double the cost of this one.This machine is loaded with features, which I am sure you have read if you are looking at buying this machine. I use the machine in Georgia USA. where the soil is so full of mineralization that the soil/clay is actually orange from all the iron and rust content. This machine with its ground balance feature makes this no problem at all to hunt. Also this machine has 4 different frequency's so you can hunt along side of your friend and the 2 machines will play nice together and not interfere with each other. Another great plus is the water proof to 10 feet. So weather you want to hunt in the lake, in a stream, or just do not want to have to pack up and go home when it starts to rain, you are set to go with no worries. The discrimination feature just rounds out this machine so if you want to set it up to skip iron, or only to pick up gold, or anything in between you can set this machine up for that
