Incredible for Invisalign
Got 3 of these to take out my Invisalign trays and they work brilliantly. Super thick and good quality. Not cheap throwaways; will last the entire year of my Invisalign for sure. I keep one in my purse, one by my kitchen sink, and the third in my bathroom where I brush my teeth. I have such a hard time getting my trays off without these. But with these it’s a super quick, simple hook and pull — and the trays are loose. Definitely recommend.

SOOOOO helpful for Invisalign
Someone on the Facebook Invisalign group told me about this product, and I purchased the 2-pack. My first Invisalign aligner did not have brackets, and was very easy to pop off and on. However, once I got 14 attachments/buttons with my 2nd aligner, it was no longer easy to pop off. Reaching back into your mouth trying to gently grab the bottom edge of the tray with your nails is not fun, and doing that often would ruin my nails anyway. Plus, I always felt like using my nails was harsher on the tray overall. The first time I tried to use the Orthokey, I thought I would break the aligner or pull off some attachments. But now that I've used it for several weeks, it is my go-to thing and I feel lost without it. I like that it comes in a 2-pack, since I keep 1 in my travel bag and 1 in my bathroom at home. I kinda wish I had more for other places but I just use my nails when needed. It's so easy, you just put your index finger through the hole and align the hook to grab the back inner edge of the aligner and pull lightly. You can do this on both sides and it usually comes off. If not, use your hands or use the tool closer to the center to get the aligner all the way off. It makes the process so quick and easy. I definitely recommend to every single person doing Invisalign or similar clear aligners.

If You Have Aligner Buttons, You Need this Update!
I thought I was rocking my new aligners-wearing them with no problem, popping them out, cleaning them, sleeping with no issue, speaking clearly. Then they put in what they jauntily call "buttons". It's more like the devil's horns. They. Are. Miserable. Devices. Now I have to get used to these awful, giant, barbed-wire protrusions. It's not so bad when the aligners are on, but when they come off, it's like I have horns on my teeth jabbing at the soft inside of my mouth. That's nothing compared to trying to get these monsters off. The aligners now snap onto the "buttons". Unfortunately, they don't just snap off. Now the aligner key makes it fairly easy to pop the aligners off the "buttons". this is great since I already broke one aligner trying to pull the aligner out of my mouth by brute force and broken finger nails. BTW, it doesn't come with the little compact that is shown in the picture, and they are very expensive for what is probably about ten cents of plastic. But they are life-savers, so I guess they are worth the money. Update: It's been three weeks since I've worn the "devil's horns". My gums have gotten used to them and I can take off the top aligner pretty easily without the hook, but the bottom aligner is still about impossible to wrench out. I. LOVE. These. Tools. Another feature I discovered is you don't smear your lipstick like you do when you are using your fingers. Hint: keep one in the car, your aligner case, at work and at home. I found myself out for lunch one day and left my case aligner on the counter at home. I about panicked because trying to wrench the bottom aligner out in a public bathroom is not a pretty sight. Thankfully I left one in the glove box. Epic save.

Dignified way to remove retainers!
There is only one spot on my bottom retainer that will lift to allow removal. It's the very back of my left back molar. My nails are natural and too flexible to do the job. I was putting both hands in my mouth, hooking both thumb nails under the inner and outer edges of that far back molar and carefully lifting up. Once it released, with thumb and forefinger, I'd carefully peel the retainer off my teeth, also pulling out a trail of saliva. So gross and embarrassing! With the Ortho Key, I just hook it under the farthest back edge of the retainer, gently lift to release, then quickly and carefully lift in two more places along the inside edge, making my way to the front of my mouth. Once I get there, one more pull on the inside edge behind my front teeth and the retainer pops out. No more cramming both hands in my mouth, chipping nail polish, or drooling. No fear of breaking my retainer, and no discomfort! The only complaint is that's it's slightly too long to fit in my retainer case. I have to hold it in place at an angle to close the lid. I with it were just a little shorter so it fits easily with no fuss. I think if one were to find the right technique, this tool could assist in anyone's retainer removal.

Time Saver, Works Awesome!
Got my Invisalign Fri, July 5th. Ordered this the next day to arrive on Mon. In the meantime I had to use my dental pick to remove them each time. (Fingernails don't do the trick, especially if they're weak like mine). Using the dental pick was HORRID! Could barely get it to back of my mouth, plus cut the inside of my mouth a few times to the point it bled pretty good. Couldn't wait until Mon. for the Orthokey to arrive! Received it on time and THANK GOD! This tool EASILY removes them plus fits perfectly in my Invisalign case that came with my kit. I'm ordering another one today so I'll always have one at home & one in my purse for outings. A lot of people don't realize how frustrating it is to remove these everytime you want to eat or drink anything (besides water). I'm removing them 6 times a day as I'm diabetic and eat small meals throughout the day. This tool certainly lessens some of that frustration by making it easier/quicker to get the Invisalign out. Kudos to whoever came up with this idea!

Game changer
I purchased this and a similar tool. The difference between them is the way the loop is oriented with the hook. Both work well. The assistant trying to show me how to remove the aligners told me to use a spoon or crochet hook. By the time I left the dentist both thumb nails were ripped and bent over from trying to remove the aligners (short weak nails). The handle of a spoon helps, but was tough to get it above/below the edge of the aligner. Wonder why the dentist doesn’t give these tools out, sell them or at least suggest them. Thankfully it arrived the next day as taking out my bottom tray was a several minute struggle even with the spoon. These are a game changer. Not sure I’d continue using the aligners without them - and we know how expensive they are! For reference I have suresmile with 6 attachments on the bottom and one attachment on top and today is the 4th day of my first tray. I’m not popping the trays out as easily as the videos online make it appear, but the process is significantly faster and easier than without the tool. Hopefully it will get even easier with time. If you’re lucky enough to be looking into this product before you get aligners - do your future self a favor and buy it now!
