Advanced Dungeons and Dragons: Monster Manual II (#2016)

I played DND when I was a teen. I'm 52 now and looking to get back into it. I got this book to take a trip down memory lane. I can picture myself in my bed as a young teen, pouring through the pages looking at all the amazing monsters. I love looking at this book and thinking about a much simpler time. Regarding the quality..it was used but in great shape! I'd by from this seller again.

I’m very happy with this purchase. Trying to replace my AD&D hardcover books have been frustrating with them being out of print (OOP) & extremely costly. I found roughly 20 sellers with this hardcover book. The costs were as high as $100+ with condition listed as ‘acceptable’. This I was listed as condition ‘good’ @ $29.00 Even in good condition it would have been a great deal. Well I received it, went through page by page, this book is in very good - like new condition! Thank you!

It arrived fast and it is in great shape. Probably better shape that what I had 40 years ago.

This is probably the 3rd copy of this I owned in the last 25 plus years. Brings back so many memories. I'm a huge fan of 1st edition Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. I love adding this to my collection. I get to pass this unto my kids and hopefully their kids will play.

I love this book with all my heart. The monsters are classic and really take you away to a world of high sorcery and perilous terrains

It seems that the AD&D monster manuals just got progressively weirder as they went on. For the sake of completeness, if you're buying MM1 and the Fiend Folio, you might as well get this one as well. There are a good number of critters within, however, that you might only be tempted to use if you were attempting a very authentic early 80s AD&D experience, or if you are heavily invested in the complexities of early D&D demonology. As with the Fiend Folio (and the Basic Creature Catalog) there are a decent number of "gotcha!" monsters with unusual or surprising qualities that would likely only be entertaining once. However, this is a good source of fodder for midlevel overland "hex crawl" style adventures (especially when combined with the resources within the Wilderness Survival Guide). It is my understanding that these did not sell very well, at least not as well as the earlier monster books, and so it is quite easy to obtain one for a reasonable price with very little damage, and that is very fine indeed.

More monsters, more?!?! Just when the Monster Manual I isn't enough, it's time to branch out, this has plenty more to throw at any adventuring party on a campaign or a simple quick dungeon. The original MM is good, but your players can get bored of the same old and this certainly mixes things up with the likes of Giant Beetle to the Behemoth to various minor and major demons to more dragons to rats to scorpions. Some of the monsters here are the products of Dragon Magazine which was any D&D players bible in the 80's, forget White Dwarf, that was always pushing Games Workshop stuff like Blood Bowl and Warhammer.

I am thrilled to have this awesome book in excellent condition again. Perfect tool for any AD&D campaign. I'd been struggling to replace my missing books after I lost them in a move. Thanks to this seller I have this one again. Now if only I could find a good copy of the Monster Manual 1...
