I haven't tested the fire or water protection aspects of this, so can't comment on those. It's heavy and chunky with what seems to be a fairly simple key operated locking mechanism. There's no way to lock this to a wall or floor and it's heavy but not too heavy for a burglar to simply carry off into the night and work on the lock at a later date, so don't buy this with a view to preventing important/valuable things being stolen if you have a break-in. The locking mechanism is less sturdy than I would have expected and doesn't look like it would stand up to something like an angle grinder, etc. Horses for courses with this; I bought it because it fulfilled the requirements of my home insurance policy and for that, it does the job. As others have mentioned, it arrived coated in a white power which is easy to wipe off but odd, nonetheless. Also, the polystyrene pieces that were surrounding this item inside a cardboard box were all brittle and cracked. I'm not sure if that means this was in a warehouse for a long time and the polystyrene had dried out, or that it had been mishandled along the way. Regardless, the item itself appears undamaged. Be aware that because this box is water/fire resistant, it does state that certain things shouldn't be stored inside with the lid locked shut due to the build up of moisture from the fire retardant material. According to the included product leaflet, this includes "pearls, jewellery, watches, stamps and photos". So basically, they're saying that this "document box" shouldn't be used to store documents. LOL Instead, you're advised that these items should be stored "inside an air tight container" before being placed inside. Instead, I've chosen to buy some sachets of silica gel and to leave the lid unlocked to prevent the build up of moisture.

The only thing I disliked about this product was I lost my keys to the safe and its mega impossible to get a replacement for it even when you've got a warranty so frustrated with the situation

We use this product to protect valuable information records for cemeteries. Fits 8 1/2 X 11 cards and hangers. Excellent value!
