I had to buy it because the electrician who usually lent me his moved out, so I had to equip myself. This is to say that I was used to a high-level instrument, and this is a completely different thing (light plastics, thin cables, featherweight). This does not mean that it does its job very well, especially considering the cost, which is truly negligible. Good part for the price - only the processing leaves a little to be desired - it certainly shouldn't fall off. I can't say exactly how it works, but it seems to work well for mopeds etc. 12V is needed - use an old motorcycle battery to flash old mopeds with 6v

Great for the price, works as it should, if anything, would be great to have a brighter light so it could be easier to see the timing mark while adjusting the timing pin daylight.

Would not work out of the box. Found that the gun had a part rattling around inside of it so I took it apart. Found the resistor not soldered in place so I had to repair the tool before I could even use it. Very poor quality. I would not recommend it. I guess you get what you pay for

It works for what it is the plug wire tester is a nice bonus. The strobe light is not that bright If your out in the sun, it’s hard to see see the light flashing

Very lightweight tool so probably would not hold up well for repetitive types of commercial use. That said, the light is very bright and the timing gun works well. The leads are pretty short (approx 4ft) but it worked well for checking the timing on my outboard motor. I used this at the lake while the boat was running and the light easily showed my timing marks. The spark plug tester is also a nice add. Good to have this device around the house or shop for occasional use and I would recommend this product.

I ordered this despite the bad reviews because I figured people were using it once then returning it but I was wrong. It worked for less than a minute properly then worked intermittently for a few minutes then completely dead. I am amazed at how bad it is. Don’t waste your time as it won’t work for what you need.

Nice little unit only one thing i didnt like .... the clamp that goes on the spark plug wire is sized for a car spark plug wire . To use it on a small engine spark plug wire which is thinner such as on a motorcycle the manufacturer should include an adapter or redesign the clamp so that it will fit thinner wires . I could be that just " hanging " the clamp on a thinner wire is enough but I myself would like a snug fit . any way a nice little unit .

Very pleased with this tool. Hesitated at first because of reviews but gave it a shot. For the price, It is perfect. Got the job done on my truck and 2 other cars and haven't had any issues. Nice bright flash that I can see on a sunny day no problem.

the gun is very poorly built and feels very cheap. In my particular case, it would work for 5 seconds, then stop. i would have to shake it to start working again. i have checked the battery connectors and the sensor on the spark plug wire, these are not the issue, there is something wrong inside the gun (maybe the switch or a loose wire). it does the job however, i was able to see the marks on my outboard even during the bright sun. the spark plug tester is ok, but i could not figure out why the color of the light keeps on changing. there is no instructions with the spark plug tester, so i have to guess whether the density of the spark keeps on changing or the test light itself produces different density light. i am thinking of returning the kit and buy a more expensive replacement
