Skeptical at first, but it’s actually pretty dope.
Brilliant way to make my “dumb” device a smart device. I have an older window unit AC that has a remote. I can now control it from anywhere. Pretty cool! This thing has a powerful signal. I’ve seen complaints about setup. I’ll share what I did. Open box, look at it with skepticism, plug it in, wonder why there’s no light to indicate power. Then, look at instructions eventually. Scanned the QR code to install the app. Scanned another QR code to link the app to the device. Then press the tiny, barely visible button for 6 seconds. App wanted my WiFi password. I reluctantly caved. And boom, connected. Then I did the self explanatory “DIY” remote clone, and this little thing is working like a champ.

Working perfectly on my TiVo
A great device as a smart TiVo remote control on my cell phone. Set up is not the same as what the manual says so that took me a while to figure out. The Smart Life app is complicated. The instruction can be improved.

Functional but limited customization.
It works well, for what it does! The devices it’s comparable with are fairly limited, but you can program any IR remote. Super convenient to be able to control devices from your phone, but only the devices linked directly in the app are compatible with Alexa, not the remotes you teach it. You also can’t name your stored remotes. They will all be “Other”, but you can have a subtitle, in smaller text underneath, that you can customize. The control Alexa has is limited, as well. You can tell Alexa to turn your TV on or off, but not to change the channel, control volume, etc., but you still have full function from your phone. One really nice thing is, it has an extremely wide angle. If you set it up in a central location, you should be able to control most of your devices. I have mine mounted to the wall, and it still works great.

Nice product
I was skeptical at the beginning. I am positively surprised with how easy and how efficient this unit is. Small enough size hides perfectly behind TV. I am using this to control an older TV to turn ON and OFF. Works great with newer models TV. Good numer of codes to program different TV's

App Could Use Some Work, the Emitter is Good However
This is not a bad emitter. It works fairly well, and did a good job as a backup/alternate IR emitter to control my air conditioner while I was away on a week long trip.I configured it using the Smartlife app. It wasn't in the device list, but I was able to program it using the remote from my air conditioner. The app isn't the best, and is a little rough around the edges, but it gets the job done. One thing I wasn't able to find was a library of user submitted device profiles. You can program an unsupported device using the remote, which is what I did for my air conditioner, but I've lost the remote for my fan. Fortunately, I also bought another IR emitter which does have a library of user submitted profiles, and was able to find one that worked with my fan.I ended up using it quite a bit to control my conditioner, in conjunction with my other IR emitter. It worked very well, and never became unavailable, or needed to be rebooted. The Alexa integration works. I can now command my TV with Alexa.

Work like a charm for me!
I have three legacy system air conditioners (without built-in Wifi control). One Hitachi, one Daikin, and one of local brand. I live in an area with hot and humid weather. All I wished is to be able to turn on aircon before I go into the office or return home. I have ASUS RT-AC88U routers in both home and office. The routers are set up with IPv6 enabled and Smart Connect on (Dual-Band smart connect). I was a little concerned about being able to connect the devices to my wifi routers. Surprisingly, all went smoothly without extra effort. Follow the instructions of the Smart Life App. The trick is to reset the device twice to enable it as a hotspot. Connect your phone wifi to the device, and tell the device how to connect to your wifi router by typing in SSID and password. Once this is done, the App will take it from there. You phone wifi should be automatically disconnected from the device and reconnected with your router. The App will scan and show the device. To configure IR commands for Hitachi and Daikin is just a matter of selecting the built-in pre-configuration from the numerous brands. I was able to "train" the device to control my local brand air conditioner without any problem, I have also being running "Automation" schedule for the past week. So far so good. Never experienced any wifi drop out or any missed remote operation.

Not working with Alexa
Main reason for buying was to have a simple mechanism of controlling one device through Alexa. Setup was easy, despite lack of instructions, and this does work with my smartphone, albeit a rudimentary interface. However, I could not get Alexa to discover the device after multiple times trying, whether linking the Smart Life app or the Tuya app. It simply does not discover the device, which means I have no voice control. I wrote to customer service and explained my issue several times and they were frankly not helpful; they kept telling me to check all the things that I had been successful with and did not specifically address my issue.I bought this because the overall Amazon reviews were good. In hindsight I should have checked the reviews on the Smart Life app through Alexa, because there it seems many people are having the same trouble as me. So overall, for my purpose, this only gets 1 star; if I was not wanting Alexa integration, then would have been higher. It also bothers me that Amazon allows such the manufacturer to claim integration with an Amazon product when that is clearly highly variable, and certainly not consistent.
