Phanteks Universal Fan Controller, PH-PWHUB_02 – Low Profile Design, Universal Fan Controller, Magnetic Housing, Three Speed Modes with Remote Control

I am a big fan of airflow, with 5 case fans. 4 of these fans are simple 3-pin fans which do the job well, and my exhaust is a nice 4-pin PWM NF-12.Without a crazy expensive motherboard, you generally only have about 2 system fan slots, so I needed to buy a fan controller. It was important to me that the controller be able to control the 3-pin fans which are not PWM.For its price, this controller is amazing. It uses the fan header on my motherboard to control the fans, and is able to convert that signal to control both my PWM and 3-pin fans. Not having those 3-pins running at full blast all the time really makes a difference - I can hear when my PC boots up that the fans are loud and at full blast on the boot flash screen, and then my motherboard is able to turn them down.Lastly, this fan controller is magnetic and was super easy to put in my case, I just stuck it on the side of a metal frame behind the motherboard. No drivers were needed.

Pros: works perfectly. Instructions easy to follow. It’s magnetic and can be attached almost anywhere inside the case without tape or screws. Controls both 3-pin fans (which don’t have built-in speed control) as well as 4-pin fans. Made my system whisper-quiet because the fans no longer run all-out the whole time (I use Arctic brand fans, which are VERY quiet but still benefit further from not having to run full speed).Cons: None.

Great fan controller, just one minor problem with the fan speed controller.I got everything hooked up, and used the Velcro to keep the fan speed controller in place, but as I soon learned, if you try to detach it form the Velcro, it comes completely apart and takes forever to line it up perfectly in order to get it working correctly again.I do however wish there was more than 3 speeds(low, medium high). I wish there was more like 5, as I have fans that can go up to 5000RPM, and even at the lowest setting, the 5000 RPM fan is whizzing away at 2000RPM. Would be nice to have it at 500RPM when in the lowest setting.

Probably most convenient device for expanding fans on your rig. Definitely better than the more expensive Corsair alternative. And more aesthetically pleasing than a simple card. It does exactly what it's supposed to do and does it well, and the fact you can stick it anywhere with the magnets is a huge plus.

Installed it today and instantly caused the sata connector to melt/smoke. The melting damaged some of my other fan cables. If you want to risk buying this item make sure it doesn't touch any other cables when you turn it on.Seller has offered a refund.For my damaged cables I had to contact Phanteks directly.Email response from Phanteks regarding replacing my damaged wires:"Thanks for the information. Works great. However... Once you plug the cables into the unit, you really can't remove them without damaging it. They really lock in place. limits reusability. With that being said, it's been in service for months without issue.

I mean it's literally perfect, pushes any build past that 13 fan limit if you want a push pull radiator which i was originally going to do but put the rad in wrong so i'm too lazy to take it all apart. Being magnetic is fantastic, slap it anywhere. The connections are hard to pull out but if you've been working on PCs as much as me you know how to do it without breaking anything.

It comes with a wired remote that you can plug in and choose between hi,med,low. It also comes with a 4pin adapter that you can plug into the same spot that allows you to use your motherboard to control the speed. It seems higher quality as well, better plastic, no rough edges, wires don't feel super flimsy, highly recommend.
