NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Shine Killer Mattifying Primer, Vegan Face Primer

Why have I not discovered this sooner?! I honestly never thought a product like this would deliver and it has! I reside on the coast with very high humidity. Usually I would blot my face with a tissue a few times but now I only blot at my hairline. My face remains matte even after 12 hrs of wear. I typically use high end make-up but when my face gets oily it completely ruins the look. I'm happy to say that's a problem of the past. How this is not rated 5 stars by others baffles me. This pairs well with NYX Marsh mellow primer to blur pores then apply the shine killer sparingly. I have mature skin, 49 yrs old with small to medium-sized pores.

I have tried so many expensive products as a primer. Most of them fail, allowing makeup to highlight pores and fine wrinkles. This one does not disappoint. It goes on a startling shade of black, but after it is absorbed you cannot see it. It makes my skin feel healthy, it is not greasy or thick, it glides on, it magically blocks my pores and fine wrinkles. I ordered several of them because it seems every time I like a product it goes away, ROFL

This is the 2nd time I've bought NYX Shine Killer primer. I bought once someplace else. I bought it a 2nd time with hopes it may work better if I apply more under my makeup. I have VERY oily skin and have yet to find a product that helps eliminate the shine coming through my makeup application. This does help, but I still have some oil coming through after a few hours. Maybe there's nothing out there that's truly for oily skin. The primer is a charcoal black color but it blends when rubbing it on. It's very lightweight and you don't even feel it on your face. (I prefer that in my primers). Although I think it's a bit costly for the size of the tube and the amount you get. I know NYX has a face glue primer. Not sure how well it works for oily skin but I may try it out too. Overall this is a good product and may work best for people with slightly oily skin.

This primer I must have. I try to keep 3 containers 😂 no lie because I don’t want to run out. I’m super oily & it controls the oil under my makeup for up to 9 hours and no other oil control primer does that. Here’s how ya do it best: wash or use a face scrub to cleanse & remove oils first, apply two thins layers of the NYX charcoal primer (only one on the nose), let it set fit 3 minutes then enjoy applying all the makeup in your routine. I’m oily so I stick with MAC & I get that perfect photo finish WITHOUT looking ashy & my skin is light brown with gold undertones. Good news-you can totally wear this alone! Bad news-don’t put it on your forehead as it may break you out if you’re oily up there. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT

I definitely would not call this shine killer. It initially minimizes shine upon application, but I don't find that it controls shine throughout the day. It does have a very lightweight, silky feel and has a good price point. And it does not seem to break me out which is a plus.

Excellent product at a reasonable price. I have very oily skin and primer is necessary to keep my makeup in tact and not melting within an hour of application, but finding a good primer that lasts and does not cost a fortune is like finding a needle in a haystack. I was not expecting to find it in an NYX product but was pleasantly surprised. First, I love it’s a gel. I’d been using smash box photo finish but found its creamy texture a little heavy . I also had to be careful not to apply too much or it seemed heavy. The NYX primer is so lightweight, spreads easy and a little goes a long way. It does not feel greasy or heavy and it has lasting power. I got through a good portion of the day without any excessive shine or oiliness. Of course with oily skin you can expect to need to blot at some point, but nothing excessive. I applied it after moisturizer before applying foundation. I set with light oil free powder and that’s it. Great results! I really love this product at such an affordable price and will definitely repurchase.

My favorite primer. Goes on smoothly. A little bit goes a long way. Makes makeup application so much smoother.

I love NYX but don’t love this. I have super oily skin and wanted a primer I can wear to work or errands with some powder that is cheaper than my Smashbox Oil Control, which is what I usually use alone and also use when I do full makeup. Sadly the NYX primer didn’t even come close. It went on weird feeling and took no shine away and the black sand settled in my smile lines. I guess I’ll just have to continue spending twice as much on Smashbox

NYX Shine Killer really works! It keeps my skin matte for hours and makes my makeup last longer. Perfect for oily and combination skin. Love it!

This product is perfect for oily skin. Easy to use and can be used for up to 2 months. It stays on skin for up to 12 hours. Great product!

What a terrible product. Please buy the Shine Stopper from Paula’s Choice which is a real shine stopper. I returned this item.
