I purchased this for a large home project where I had to drive 1500 or so screws of various sizes. The compact size of the tool is nice for getting into tight spaces, like between wall studs with longer screws. My smaller 2 amp existing DeWalt batteries lasted for hours. I purchased this model because of the brushless motor design, as it's supposed to get much better battery life. I think it really works because the batteries really lasted a long time. The speed control has great control too, so I could set the screws perfectly even for delicate work. I was driving a lot of #9 3 1/8" screws for building framing, and it would drive those screws as deep as I wanted and fast with very little twisting on my wrist, and then if things weren't quite right, unscrew quickly to start over. I also used it for small #8 1 1/4 screws for trimming and it worked wonderfully there too. I used it on some very large screws in a couple cases, #12 or something, and it worked great there too. Like any impact driver, the impact makes quite a bit of noise when you're driving large and long screws. I was working close to small farm animals in tight quarters a few times and had to avoid the impact to keep them calm. Could be an issue with neighbors too if they live too close, like in the next apartment.

Like the other 14 Dewalt tools I have, this one is well made, quite and sturdy. It is ready to go out of the box, just add a battery & go to work, no muss, no muss !However, it will NOT work very well for drilling into reinforced, 5000psi concrete, so if that is your intended use, save yourself some time and get a much more powerful/larger tool, preferably electric or air powered..For just about any other task, it very well could be your next go-to driver tool.

I finally bit the bullet and bought an impact driver. As a diy'er I never needed one. I bought this because I couldn't get the heating elements out of my electric water heater. Because this is over 1500 lbs per sq inch it easily broke loose both bad elements that wouldn't come out no matter what else I used. It doesn't have the manual 3 speed like the more expensive one, but not a big deal. It's also very light and narrow so you can fit it in smaller spaces. I can see myself using this in many more projects. If you have Dewalt tools/batteries this impact driver is a great deal and worth every penny. I've used it for a couple weeks and am still on the 1st battery I put on it. Definitely recommend all Dewalt tools. Everyone I've bought in the last 10 + years are still going strong along with the 20 amp batteries.
