Jacquard Marbling Class Pack

This was such a fun weekend project making marbleized paper! The directions are so easy to follow! It is very time consuming but I knew that going into it! Highly recommend. You can also buy the print making paper on Amazon and I bought the aluminum baking dishes that come in bulk to use for the alum and marble inks.

There’s a bit of prep to do before marbling. I prepared the fabric and water 2 days before hand. This was our first try. We needed a craft for our 5 granddaughters ages 9-13. They loved every minute of it. And so did I. The kit was wonderful. Plenty remains for more days of marbling.

I am teaching ‘ebru’ art as a partnership class in an elementary school and it is only 8 weeks long. This whole package is enough for 10 students for 8 weeks and i love the fabric. Kids design marbled fabric and i turn them to pencil holder to give as a last-day gift. Parents love the results and kids enjoy it.

My family had so much fun with this kit. The written instructions are very detailed, which is perfect, because there’s many things that can go wrong with marbling. Everything worked great for us. One word of advice, make the dye rather thick if you want bold colors vs pastel colors.

I had high hopes for this item. It was for a Mother’s Day project with the children at my school. After reading everything I could about the process, including things to avoid to get the best results, we began. The first scarf had nice swirl designs but the colors still appear fairly faded. We then tried a second one. Less color was sticking. We gave up on using the solution bath with the dyes and used them directly on the scarves. The colors were more vibrant and seemed to stick better. However, we lost the swirl effect without the solution and the ended with with more of a tie dye result. The process was a bit messy but again this was a first for us. Might be better for someone with a little more experienced. However, next time we will just go with using paints as we have done in the past with better results.

Our class had an amazing time- 8 third, fourth and fifth graders marbled with no problem! The prep was a bit complicated but once I tile it down step by step it was doable- don’t wait until the last minute, though, because it takes time.
