Really a good read.

The book was great and a easy read. The used book was almost like new. It is a great story and shows how the human condition can be stretched to the max, but still one can overcome the harshest of conditions.

I loved this book. Its very interesting and really holds your attention. It's written in a way that's not "above your head." And there isn't any horrific or gorey things in this book. I definitely recommend this, especially if you like a good biography

This was an amazing story of a young girl and her siblings, living a nomadic life with very irresponsible parents. I am shocked and saddened that the parents chose not to provide even the basics for their children, when they obviously could have most of the time. Money was spent on alcohol and art supplies, while the children rooted through the trash for food. The fact that the author is not angry with her parents is incredible, especially when she learns her mother owned valuable land that she, the author, always assumed was worthless. Also, the mother kept a 2-carat diamond ring that was found by the children, but not sold because the mom thought it helped her self esteem. Apparently, any adverse effects on your self esteem when choosing to NOT feed your children is fixed by a big diamond? I am always a bit leary of memoirs where very young children remember details and conversations as if they happened yesterday, so I do take some of the story with a gain of salt. I am, however, pleased that 3 of the 4 kids became productive, responsible adults.

She enjoyed the book to its fullest. Read the book in a week

Just finished this book tonight and although I'm late to the party I have to say this book is hard to put down I found myself reading it while walking around. It's just so authentic such crazy poverty it made me cry. Everyone everywhere should read this book.
