Pentair 521109 IntelliCom 2 Interface Adapter Replacement High Performance Pump

After updating to a Zodiac i Aqualink system I thought I needed this adapter. I have a Pentair Intelliflow pump. To my surprise at least for now this extra interface is not needed. After installing both the i Aqualink conversion and the Intellicom 2 I found programming with this device to be very complicated and redundant.The Intellicom 2 install was done by a "pool professional". I had to correct the wiring he did and did it as described in the instructions to make it work. The Intellicom 2 was a disappointment. Next I removed the Intellicom 2 and now ( 2 months) use ONLY the programming that came with the iAqualink. In the iAqualink software there are provisions for using a Pentair pump without the Intellicom 2. It will operate 8 speeds, the cleaner, jets, heat, lights and most anything.Now I am far more of an expert at this device then either phone support at Pentair or Zodiac, and that is not saying much. Frankly it is not that hard and with a couple of hours one can install the device (40 minutes) and then an hour plus to figure out the programming.

This adapter makes it easy to hook up an older Jandy Aqualink automation controller to newer Pentair Intelliflo VS pumps. Now my speeds can be controlled via the in-house RS8 all button controller. Pool and Spa mode both use a low speed (2200rpm) setting for normal filtering and spa heating. I used the unused solar relay to trigger highspeed (3050rpm) when I want to clean the pool or, in spa mode, make the jets really put out good bubble action. Saved me several hundred dollars over upgrading the Aqualink to an iAqualink system. If you want smartphone control, iAqualink is the way to go. I just use the timer functions on the RS8 so the smartphone upgrade was not worth nearly $1k extra to me.

I have the older Pentair Compool control system. I bought a new variable speed pump, but did not want to upgrade the control system to the EasyTouch or IntelliCenter. This adapter piece allows me to connect my variable speed pump to the Compool system. It's an easy DIY if you are familiar with your pool equipment, just follow the manual.
