The weight is not adjustable as far as I can tell. But I have to say, I really LOVE this vest! I bought the 8 lb vest in the beginning, kind of split the difference since I didn't want to buy another one any time soon. The other thing you could potentially do if you wanted to add more weight would be to add some wrist or ankle weights. I have thought about that, too, but haven't do so at this point.

If you're referring to weight, I read somewhere that 6 pounds is good to start with for a person who's not already muscular. 6 pounds works well for me; it doesn't feel very heavy when I put it on, but after walking or gardening in it, I can definitely feel its effects.
