NCE Flashcard Study System: NCE Test Practice Questions & Exam Review for the National Counselor Examination (Cards)

I purchased the Mometrix NCE Preparation Flash Cards I Rate them at a 5. I Love these Flash Cards! The simple fact that they cover all of the Core Concepts of the NCE encouraged me and boosted my confidence that I will not only take the NCE and pass but I also excel. These Flash Cards are one the best study tools I've had thus far and they also cover every course I've taken in my Masters Program. I ordered the NCE Flashcard Study System and absolutely love it! I clipped each section separately and carry them in my purse, in my car, at home, nearly everywhere I go. They're so handy and pre-perforated so it was a snap to start studying! The material on the flashcards has been extremely helpful and the explanation on the reverse side is awesome. My friend makes her flashcards and it takes endless hours (I tried one time, never again) so I ordered yours and love them! I take them to the beach to study (better than getting sand in my book), use them when I'm waiting at the doctors office, before I go to bed at night, during breaks between counseling sessions at my internship, etc.

I have not had an opportunity to go through all of these, however, it appears they cover a great deal of information, and thus should help me prepare for my state test adequately. They come in 8-1/2 x 11 sheets and you have to separate them. They are perforated though, so it is quite simple. One thing is that they are an odd size (not a standard 3x5 or 4x6 index card) so really can't put them in an index card mini binder or containers. More or less stuck with keeping them in a card file box.

I thought the material on these cards were wonderful the cards compliment NCE Secrets book. The cards could be used alone and in fact the cards are the only thing I use one week prior to the test which I did pass. When I started using the cards by themselves and not the book I was able to retain more information quicker on each section. I believe you could study the cards only and pass the NCE test. They are a must have spend the money get the cards and get the book! This was my second time taking the test the first time I listen to the Rosenthal CD only and it was just way too much information.

I found the NCE flash cards very resourceful. They are easy to access anywhere. I love the idea that I don’t to take all my study material with me. I can just reach in my bag and study anywhere. I purchased the NCE cards due to a couple of my peers using them before testing after being out of school for a while. They all passed the NCE. These cards can be used as a quick refresher. I would would advise anyone who has to study on the go to purchase the NCE study flash cards.

I have not taken the NCE yet so I will come back and revise my review once I take the test, however my initial thoughts for this product are as follows. Pros: -You get several cards for the price (approximately 100+ cards in the set, I did not count them like I should have but it's a decent amount) -It comes with practice questions for the exam which is nice -The amount of information on the cards is sufficient to explain the answer, but not too much where you get bored and start skimming. Cons: -It does not come already ripped apart (you will receive a book sized envelope and of sheets of ~6 cards each and will need to tear apart the cards yourself) -It does not come in a box where you can easily store the cards, and they are not the correct size for a standard note card organization box (they are too tall) -The brand name is on each and every flash card (I like that it states the cards are for the NCE, but I do not like that "Mometrix Media" is in large print on the top of every card. -Minor typos (just looking through the cards as I tore them apart) Because I spent so much money (Almost $70) I'm disappointed that the cons list is as long as it is. Some of these things (such as not being torn apart, and no box to store them in) are issues that really should not have come up. That is why I gave them 3 stars. If I ace the NCE after the first try I may come back and give them another star.

The use of flashcards for purposes of study has been a standard method employed throughout most people's learning experiences. I admit to initially feeling my use of flashcards to study essential counseling concepts might be a bit elementary. Nonetheless, I purchased the NCE Flashcard Study System by Mometrix Test Preparation to supplement my use of a well-known textbook style study tool. The study system arrived as sheets of perforated heavy card stock. A clean, simple font is used for optimum viewing. Each card clearly indicates the area of study focus (i.e., assessment, helping relationships, professional orientation and ethical practice, etc.). As a future product enhancement, I would have preferred that each category of study cards be distinguished using a different color of card-stock. The information contained on each card appears to have been carefully selected and is comprehensive. I was particularly drawn to the advisement of using the “Leitner Method” of studying flashcards for optimum learning benefit. Admittedly, I had downloaded a NCE flashcard phone application but after my initial use, I found it failed to hold my interest or gain my confidence in its use. I have every confidence that the NCE Flashcard Study System will prepare me well for exam day.

I am using the Mometrix NCE Flashcard Study System to prepare for the National Counselor Examination. I find the flashcard format to be very useful in breaking down study material into manageable increments. The study system as described is very helpful to more deeply learn facts in advance of my exam. My only caveat is that there are so many cards and so much information on some of the cards that they are a little unwieldy to use as directed in the three-pile manner.
