"Solid and sturdy anvil!
Perfect for small metalworking projects and jewelry making. The weight is just right for stability, and the surface is smooth and well-finished. It absorbs hammer blows effectively without bouncing. A great tool for beginners and experienced craftsmen alike. Highly recommended for its durability and value!

Great for small tasks
This is a really nicely made anvil. You won't be forging swords on this guy, but for small crafts it's perfect.

Good hobby anvil - Don't expect to work metal here
I really cannot understand those who expect to work steel on a 9 pound anvil. I have worked steel in the past, and you need a real, large, heavy anvil for that sort of work. The finish on this anvil is exactly fine for hobby work. What does that mean? It means if you want to work silver, copper, even brass, it's exactly what you need for those small projects. Need to work with leather and set some rivets? Perfection! The top is flat, the horn is rounded as it should be! You don't pay $16 for smithy anvil! This is exactly what it purports to be - a HOBBY anvil.Perfectly sized for tabletop use, not too heavy, yet substantial enough to work those small projects. The only drawback is the square hole for anvil tools is only square near the top. they really do need to work on squaring it all the way through. Another reviewer noted this and it is still the case.Sure, you get what you pay for - and in this case I wanted a small, hobby anvil for leatherwork and small brasswork - guess what - I got exactly what I wanted and needed.

Nice little anvil
Its solid. Good ground flat surface on top with a hole for punching. Nice horn though it has a four hammered finish. It would be better if it was smooth. Four mounting holes make it easy to attach to a block or bench. For small jewelry work it works very well.

It is an anvil
Its just the right size for my project and the weight is good too. It came in one piece, no rust, and definitely LOOKS like an anvil. I tried dropping it on a wiley coyote action figure and yeap! You guessed it! flattened him like an accordian! Then the action figure stood up and started walking away all accordian like, at which point I freaked out because my action figure had come to life and was possessed by some demon coyote, or the guy who possessed chucky, who knows?!?! Either way, I wasnt going to wait to find out. I dropped the anvil on him again, quickely pinned him in between two cast iron pans and threw it all into a bonfire which I then doused with old batteries and bottles of hairspray. The coyote began fighting his way through the heat and acid explosions and just before he melted away, terminator 2 style into a vat of molten metal, he gave me a thumbs up and quickly changed it to flipping me the bird, as he melted away. At that point I breathed a sigh of relief and promised myself to never watch looney toons with the stove gas on again.
