Twelfth Night (No Fear Shakespeare) Kindle Edition

This book was awesome. I had seen online summaries that translated Shakespeare but this was the first copy I found that did line by line. This was perfect for me as I was performing as Viola for a summer Shakespeare in the park. It was first time ever performing Shakespeare and it really helped me understand what I was saying, and how to say what I needed to say. All around great book!

Earlier this year, I was given the opportunity to perform in a local community theater production of William Shakespeare’s delightful comedy “Twelfth Night.” The play’s director encouraged all actors to gain a deeper understanding of Shakespeare’s words, to better perform each part. He suggested a book entitled “SparkNotes No Fear Shakespeare – Twelfth Night” as a guide.I purchased a paperback copy of “No Fear Shakespeare – Twelfth Night,” and I am very pleased with it. This wonderful little book is set up with Shakespeare’s original words on each left-hand page; on each right-hand page is a modern English paraphrase of the original script. While I was memorizing my lines from the left-hand pages, I quickly discovered I could learn my character’s deeper motivations for what he was saying by referring to the modern English paraphrase. As a result, I learned my lines more quickly, and am more effectively portraying my character during rehearsals.“No Fear Shakespeare – Twelfth Night” also includes a full list of main characters with their descriptions, as well as occasional footnotes that help clarify the meaning of some words, phrases, and situations.I’ve always loved reading the works of William Shakespeare for simple enjoyment, and I found that “No Fear Shakespeare – Twelfth Night” not only helped me greatly in preparing for our upcoming performances of our local production of “Macbeth;” it also gave me tremendous enjoyment in reading the play itself. I plan on buying many more volumes in the “No Fear Shakespeare” series. Highly recommended.

I had to read Twelfth Night for my British Literature class. I'm homeschooled in 12th grade, so I don't have a teacher helping me understand the language. I remembered using another edition of No Fear Shakespeare in the past (A Midsummer Night's Dream) for my 8th grade English class, so I decided to try it again.This story is amazing, and I'm grateful to be able to fully understand it now. I read through it in a couple of days and honestly enjoyed every moment of it. What I love is that I was able to easily look over to the original text when I wanted to get a feel for the writing style - important with this story, because it includes a lot of songs and poetry - but the translations make it easier to understand.I got an A on my book report which I never would've achieved without the help of Spark Notes!

I wont speak of the content as much as I will the quality of the product. The play has the same words as the other original "Twelfth Night" scripts. The book was ordered on Aug 19 and delivered on the 24th from Cedar Hill book company. I ordered a second hand book and the book that I received is in excellent condition, it is hardcover but still very lightweight. On the right hand side of the page is the Modern English translation of Shakespeare's language. I ordered this book as well as some other Shakespeare plays to teach my students. However, I did not purchase the others in No Fear because the other translated books come along with activities and study guides. The No Fear books only provide the translation and no other resource. It is still a satisfactory book and can prove to be very beneficial if all you really need is a translation.

My son and I have been using this book to study twelfth night in our homeschool. I was quite nervous about introducing Shakespeare as I know it can be a struggle for kids to understand (even I struggle)! But this book was perfect. It has the full play in the original shakespearian text but also has a modern translation alongside it. My son and I read a scene a day in the shakespearian followed his the modern, and he has really enjoyed it, and now has a real understanding of this play! It has given him a love for Shakespeare!

Thank you, made Shakespeare's beautiful language so accessible. Helped me prepare my role of Sir Toby in a local production. A must for both actors and students alike.
