Buyer beware!!!
Worthless tablet. The previous model of this tablet was excellent. I "upgraded" to this model for the higher resolution screen. I also got with this upgraded tablet half the memory (1gb) and no internal GPS receiver. Because it only has 1gb of ram, after it boots there isn't enough memory left to be usable for things like browsing the web, Netflix or YouTube. When calling Dell support your told that you can't do those things because your tablet only has 1gb of memory. They will do nothing except endlessly run you around in circles with reseting it back to factory settings. I understand mistakes happen but take responsibility for them Dell and provide a solution to those of us who purchased this overt product. Don't just sweep it under the rug. I no longer trust Dell and this is the last Dell product I will purchase and will never recommend their products again.

Hardware failures
20 days of purchase, charging port came loose inside. At 31 days I attempted to return in. Was told to send it to Dell (With me paying postage). They fixed it and sent it back. But no two months down the road, it completely fails. It will begin to boot up, then flashes several times, then a thin line at the bottom. Wish I had bought it at Amazon. Dell tech support blows.

Stay Away. Do Not Buy. Do Not Even Go Near This Product.
This tablet is unusable. I bought it because my Nexus 7 was balky, and it proved a total waste of money. After more than a month, it is -- andI thought this was impossible -- getting worse. I thought I might be able to cure constant freezes, or get around them, by switching from Chrome ("Chrome is not responding") to Firefox. That worked reasonably well until, a few days later, everything I accessed via Firefox was subject to sudden blackouts. You're in the middle of something, and it simply disappears. I've tried commonly prescribed fixes (with the exception of removing the battery, which is akin to brain surgery) and nothing improves performance. Nothing even enables performance. Given that my time is worth something, I'm refusing to spend any more of it on this piece of sh*t. Back to my Nexus. My next tablet will be an iPad.

2 days with a new tablet that C-net said was good, I am returning it and no longer listening to C-net. Yes, it is a beautiful 8 inch display and once they start it's fine for watching Netflix and Hulu. But they didn't mention the Dell Venue 3840 has virtually no memory, and it's 70% filled before you even use the damn thing. It's bad to the point that it's a major challenge to play Candy Crush saga! And don't even think about using Google chrome for your browser, it's slower than Internet Explorer. The battery life also seems to stink. Takes forever to charge to 100% (yes I am using a 3.1 amp power adapter into the wall)and discharges very fast. Also unlike the Samsung Galaxy tab 4, I don't see any easy way to exit out of all the windows and apps that just build when you are using your tablet. And don't be a fast typer! It lags. Also, it has no real intuitivness at all when it comes to sending a text or writing a comment say a social site like Facebook. I'm going back to a Galaxy Tab 4 like I should have in the first place.
