Transforming Grace

Wonderful book filled with scripture applied to everyday life. Very helpful

We are using this book for one of our Bible studies at church. Such a great book so far (I’m on chapter 3). Really helps you grow in understanding God’s grace. Really good analogies in this book as well!

After leaving a legalistic cult like church wounded and lost, of course this book lands on my lap because God knew exactly what I needed to heal. My culture is performance based so I can see why I attended a church that mirrored my upbringing. But God loves us too much to leave us stuck in toxic places, even churches. The author systematically and thoughtfully describes what grace is and isn’t with scripture and reverent analogies. After reading this book, I feel a hundred pounds taken off my shoulders as I’m reminded that my salvation and relationship with Christ is not based on my efforts or performance. I wish I read this book when I first got saved so I could have avoided legalistic Christians and churches.

Jerry Bridges was a very inspired writer. I used his Pursuit of Holiness book as a group study for a while. My friends in the group enjoyed Jerry's writing so much, we decided to now use Transforming Grace as our new group study. I believe Transforming Grace is the largest book he ever wrote. From a spiritual standpoint, his books make you think very hard about where you are spiritually. I would advise any group leaders at a church who are looking for a book study to use Jerry Bridges books. As far as delivery, I did have a few problems; one time I never received the books in the mail; another time a book was damaged during delivery. But Amazon always makes things right!

If you are at all curious about God's grace this is the book for you. It will both answer all your questions and whet your appetite to pray for a deeper soul connection to the topic so that you can truly grasp God's grace. This is not a new book, it's been around a long time, since 1991 but the content is very much on point and relevant to every seeking believer and unbeliever.
