Wii Sports Resort

Wii Sports Resort is a great collection of mini-games all located at a mythical island. You can do archery, frisbee, swordfighting, golf, and more. Lots of fun! There are twelve basic categories of games. These are: swordplay, wakeboarding, frisbee, archery, basketball, table tennis, golf, bowling, power cruising, canoeing, cycling, and air sports. Within each category are mini-games. So for example in the swordfighting area you can do duels, speed slice challenges, and showdown challenges. Most of the games are fine single player, but some do require multiplayer to work. As with most games of this type, different areas will appeal to different people. I know some friends who adore the golf area. I happen to adore the swordfighting challenges and the air challenges - i.e. flying an airplane around the entire island. That's the beauty of the large selection, that something is sure to appeal to different people in your household. The controls are easy to learn. You want to slash your sword? Just draw it down in front of you as if your Wiimote was an actual sword. These are games that anybody can pick up fairly quickly. Also, they're suitable for all ages. A grandparent and grandchild can have fun playing table tennis against each other. It's important to note that you need the Wii MotionPlus component to your WiiMote. Newer WiiMotes have this built in. Older WiiMotes had to have this plugged in as an add-on in their base. So be sure to check the WiiMotes you own to make sure they can handle the MotionPlus. Are there any down sides here? The games aren't very intricate. If you are a hard core golf fanatic and want to play realistic models of Pebble Beach, this probably isn't the game for you. But for what the game is intended to be, it's great. It's easy to play, fun to replay, and gets you up off the couch. Well recommended for all ages. Wii Sports Resort is an excellent family friendly game. Most games have up to four players but a couple are in two player mode. Make sure to pick up extra Wii MotionPlus for your Wii remotes, since the game only comes with one. The Wii MotionPlus adapter gives you better accuracy and control of your movements. If during game play the remote is not quite acting the way it should be, all you need to do is lay the remote face down on a flat surface for a couple seconds and it recalibrates it. The games are fun and we can't stop laughing while playing. Let me to tell you that you do get one heck of a workout though. The graphics are good with vivid colors and you still have your other saved Mii's in the audience cheering you on. You may want to consider purchasing Wii Sports Resort Pack which offers 2 Star Sabers, Table Top Racing Stand, Racing Wheel, Jet Ski Handle, and Rubber Grip for a more realistic feel to gameplay. Since many reviewers and item description have mentioned what games are included, I will give a brief description of my favorites ones. On top of my list is Archery. You use both the nunchuck and remote during gameplay. Holding the remote in your left hand straight up and pulling back with the nunchuck in the other hand like you are really using a bow and arrow. Sounds easy but the game gets progressively harder as you go on. Another one my family loves to play is Swordplay. In Swordplay you use the remote as if you were using a sword. You can even use a block feature by pressing the "B" button. We laugh like crazy when we play this one and you can get into some really extreme battles. I just love to watch the Mii's fall-over the platform in slow motion! Canoeing is another fun one to play. You use the remote like you would use a paddle and try to get around the course avoiding obstacles and try beating your opponent to the finish lines. I love crashing into the other canoe and making them get off course. This game will give you one good workout of your arms so be prepared. Wii Resort is an welcomed added addition to my collection of Wii games. Anyone will enjoy playing this game from the occasional gamer to the hard-core get in your face type of player. Game works great, missing motion plus which was listed as part of it. Shipping took about 10 days.

A good fun package of games, which we are all exploring. The motion plus really does make the controller more sensitve and precise. However be warned that the motion plus is needed for all controllers. While majority of the games can be played by sharing a controller, if you are playing against each other you will need as many motion plus as you have players. Insert the disc and play right away, the onscreen instructions take you straight into the game, no need to read the instruction mannual. Graphics are colourful and detailed. While some games have no music this makes it more enjoyable as have the sound of boats, waves etc (ie. wake boarding) We enjoy swordplay, which can be very energegtic and a real stress buster, makes your arms ache. Cycling also gets your arms moving. Well worth the buying. If you have the wii fit game, if like me you have problems with the wii fit game freezing up and not responding on screen at same time as the wii controller, can tell you now that I have not had any problems at all with Sports Resort.

This game does not come with the wii controller which I knew and expected so I was not dissapointed. The game is simple and basic but fun. The disc was in perfect condition no dirt or scratches!

I'm buying this on Amazon.in. I believe all previous reviews were for other region. I had to return the product as the shipment did not carry Wii MotionPlus accessory as advertised. This is a bad first shopping experience with Amazon.in.

Das Spiel ist dem ursprünglichen Wii Sports um Welten überlegen. Es ist niemals langweilig, die Grafik ist toll, die Möglichkeiten vielfältig. Leider muss man sich die Motion Control zusätzlich kaufen, wenn man gegeneinander spielen möchte, zB beim Radfahren, Kanu oder Schwert- und Luftkampf... Auch die alten Sportarten Golf und Bowling sind nun viel ausgereifter und diffiziler. Eine absolute Kaufempfehlung!
