This Singer Beginner’s Sewing Kit includes two fabric marking pencils, hand needles, thimble, sewing gauge, needle threader, tomato pin cushion, eleven mini spools of thread, a tape measure, fabric scissors, seam ripper, and dressmaker pins. Full disclosure: while I know how to do it, I am not a big sewer. I sew to finish off crochet projects, sew on buttons, hem clothes – I am never going to sew an outfit or make a quilt. So, for someone like me this is a perfect beginner’s sewing kit but it may not be for others who are more serious about sewing than I am. I really bought this kit for certain bits and pieces – namely the needle threader and seam ripper – and I wasn’t disappointed. Some parts are a bit flimsy – the scissors and seam ripper (they don’t make seam rippers like they used to!) and the pin cushion is on the small side – but in general this kit fits my needs which are admittedly small. If you are looking for a kit for major sewing projects, this Singer Beginner’s Sewing Kit probably isn’t for you, but if your needs are small like mine, you will love this sewing kit!

My wife and I were looking for a simple (and affordable) sewing kit. Mainly we were looking for good hand sewing needles since my wife also repairs our dog's toys. Everything included has been extremely useful. It does not come with a case, but my wife uses an old makeup bag and everything fits perfectly. The thread is not as strong as we were hoping it would be. It tends to break easily. Other than that, this is great for a small householdin need of some quick repairs.

My nephew, the last baby in his generation, is going off to college this fall to major in science and technology. We are all so proud of him, but he was having a hard time coming up with all of the items on his supply list and I wanted to help him out, so I purchased this 130 Piece Beginner’s Sewing Kit from seller, Singer. This sewing kit contains everything my nephew might need to make repairs to his clothing in his dorm room. It comes with a pin cushion, tape measure, needle threader, marking pencils, sewing gauge, seam ripper, thimble, 8-inch bent trimmer scissors (which were also on the list so yay!), polyester thread in many different colors, sewing needles and straight pins. All of these items fit in a reusable storage box that measures 8 inches by 7 inches by 1 inch. It’s a nice size and if my nephew needs to replace a button or sew up a seam he has everything he needs to repair his clothing and get back to his studies. I’m super-excited to give this to my nephew and I know that he will use this kit often. I hope this review helps to better inform your purchasing decision. Thanks for reading.

The quality definitely matches the price, but it’s a great kit for beginners! - 2 fabric pencils - 10 hand needles - 100 dressmakers pins - 11 spools of polyester thread (very small, probably best for repairs) - Tape measure (60in/152cm) - Pin cushion - Needle threader - Thimble - Seam ripper - Seam gauge - Fabric scissors I forgot to take a photo of the 10 hand needles before I added them to my other ones, but they’re very small and thin so I’m pretty sure they’re all different sizes of sharps.

This kit is okay if you're not intending to do any serious sewing. I know it says "Beginner Kit", but even for beginners you'd be better off purchasing these items individually as they're not that expensive and tend to be better quality when not placed in a kit. I'd recommend it for maybe a "repair" sewing kit. I bought it when I first got my sewing machine and have slowly replaced each piece in my sewing bag to individual bought pieces that are better quality. I kind of regret buying them all in a kit that is not great quality in the first place. I do still use the measure tape and the pin cushion, because you can't really mess that up. The scissors weren't sharp to begin with and became dull rather quickly. Same with the seam ripper. The "fabric pencils" are nothing but colored pencils that do not mark many fabrics at all. The straight pins bend quite easily. All in all, it's not terrible especially for the price, but if you're planning on creating sewing projects I'd go for something a bit more durable as you'll be replacing the items within the first year of use.

This was a fantastic sewing kit that I purchased for my young daughter to go along with her very own sewing machine. It was everything she needed to begin using her sewing machine and create a variety of things. All the items were good quality and, after 2 years, they have not deteriorated at all. I would recommend this for anyone who has a child in their life who shows an interest in crafting/sewing.
