Stan The Man At His Bombastic Best!
Although Stan Lee has departed this mortal coil, his clever writing and acerbic wit live on forever. If you've always wondered what would happen if the father of the Avengers, Spider-Man, and Mighty Thor had reshaped the Distinguished Competition, wonder no more! My special favorites are the Lieberization (as in Stanley Martin Lieber, his real name);of Superman, Wonder Woman, and the creation of protege Marv Wolfman, CRISIS. It's the book nobody thought Stan could write, not even Stan himself! Order it now, or miss it and regret it later! Excelsior!

Good Art, Mediocre Writing, Decent Presentation
This book, a collection of reimaginings of famous DC characters as written by Stan Lee, is somewhat of a mixed bag. Stan Lee may be a legend in the industry, but unfortunately, his writing here just isn't very good. I understand that it was meant to evoke the Silver Age style that he is known for, but unfortunately, the dialogue just comes off as cheesey and stilted here, with some really cringeworthy lines. I actually found some of the ideas he had for his versions of these DC heroes to be pretty interesting with some great potential. Unfortunately, the execution of these ideas has a lot to be desired, as the general plots of each story wound up being incredibly predictable. The art, on the other hand, is pretty great. Each story in the collection is drawn by a different individual, and DC went all out to gather some of the most famous and talented artists in the industry. With names like Joe Kubert, Jim Lee, Darwyn Cooke, and even Sergio Aragones among many others, the book almost functions as a who's who of major comic artists from the early 2000's.The actually quality of the omnibus itself is pretty decent. The binding is solid, and the quality of the pages is good. It includes a large number of sketches designs from the various artists as a bonus, as well as short little blurbs about their thoughts on the project. Overall, while the art alone almost makes the book worth it, the poor writing and hefty price that goes with this omnibus may make you think twice before purchasing it. On the plus side, you do get a lot of content (over 700 pages worth), but it is certainly not a work that everyone will enjoy. Personally, if one were looking for a similar concept (DC characters reimagined in completely different ways), only with better writing and a more reasonable price, I would recomment looking into the "Tangent Comics" books that DC also put out in the late 90's, whose collections are also for sale on Amazon.

BUY! Funky Flashmans unique vision! ..
Stans best work ever? Well, if not its his best in a while. This is a great collection of iconic characters done by a stellar team of artists. With no less than 3 separate artistic interpretations per character, each chapter stands out with back up stories and alternate covers. Its a big jumbled superhero mash up which at time seems a bit like the amalgam comics from a while back.Jim lees Wonder Woman is one of my favorites along with Simonson's Sandman. I don't like flash's costume although the art and story were good quality. However the robin story and art was just terrible and it actually hurt my eyes in this larger format, so you might want to just skip that story.Overall the stories sparkle with whimsy, showing signs of inspiration in spots. Its in the same marvel omnibus format, but with nice thick paper like the original comic. The artworks generally full bleed format is especially nice in this larger reproduction. Finally we get to see Buscema's last work, rip, with Stan creating Superman.

True believers must read
I’m happy to have finally read this and have it in my collection. Stan Lee reinventing classic DC characters in a “What If” type of story. Quick to read and easy to follow stories.

Keep an open mind and see the potential of Just Imagine Stan Lee Creating the DC Universe Omnibus.
A unique idea that needed to be told. Of what I read, it was the best I've ever read. Stan Lee really did something original that was new. Yes their is some flaws, but the stories were better told, despite the flaws. The characters had more personality and more potential, than their original counterparts who have watered down over the years. I wish their were more stories of what happen next in their world. Despite the flaws, try looking at the potential, and keep an open mind to Just Imagine Stan Lee Creating the DC Universe Omnibus. It's not as bad as some say. Read it, you'll see it was well worth reading.

Surprisingly good.
Stan, the Man, Lee's take on the greats of the DC universe? Take a look and find out. See an all new Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and other names from the DC universe turned on their heads. Like reading books straight out of the 60s, with great art work, a traditional styling, and cleaver storyline that follows through all the books.

It is absolutely glorious!
This book is gigantic, and exactly how it sounds. Stan Lee reimagines famous DC characters with a Marvel spin. Now Batman has a Spiderman structure, the Flash is a woman, and the onlookers just assume a new movie is being filmed and that is why costumed people are crashing around. The price was resonable, condition was great, and I am one happy LambNerd.

It was everything I expected
I didn't expect anything about the storyline itself, but I expected anything with Stan Lee behind it was going to at the least be pretty good. I like his take on some of the classic heroes from the DC Universe. I wish would have done a version of this, but focused on the villains of the DC universe. I want to see what Stan Lee would do with the Joker or Black Manta.

Stan Lee Just Doesn't Imagine
I waited for almost sixteen months for this book to arrive, anticipating a great read from the man (no pun intended) behind "This Man this Monster", "The Origin of the Silver Surfer" and numerous other classic stories of the sixties. Sadly, it would appear that I failed to recognize that just as Jack Kirby's art suffered in his later years (although he remained the most creative of story-tellers)Stan Lee is not the force he once was. Whilst the book is nicely presented and includes homage to Lee from each artist and others it fails to bring anything new to the DC characters we all know. Back in the seventies my brother and I would create various superheroes for our own entertainment; the plot for these always followed the same formula of wronged individual gains super powers as result of some inexplicable occurrence, seeks revenge on those who wronged him/his loved ones/others and thwarts all the attempts to kill him, seeing off the villain but left wondering how he can now use his powers without compromising his personal life. Well you know the formula.... but it seems that sadly so did Stan Lee and as a result there is nothing new or innovative about these origin tales. To make matters worse the art is generally poor and sub-standard and only a couple tales carry off the weak stories. As a great fan of Jack Kirby, and a believer that it was he who was largely responsible for the success of the Marvel universe, (agreeably with Stan Lee) this books simply appears to confirm that Stan Lee was not singularly responsible for the Marvel age of comics. At more than £45 this is a book for the true afficionado only.
