Boy did I need this!
My first swiss army knife was one that I got as a gift in 1988 and lasted all these years until it started to fall apart (I still use some of its blades though). This was the perfect replacement for that knife and it certainly is nice to be able to use all the blades and tools now.

My Son Needed This!
So...my son's employment will have him out in the field, all over the world, soon. I knew he needed a bottle opener, a can opener, scissors, a small knife-blade, etc.... I was happy that this knife came with a carrying case, and I know he is going to love it as a Christmas present. :-)

A proven tough and very useful pocket knife.
This little knife is worth its weight in gold, or at least silver. I carried this knife for many years in my daypack when I was on active duty. It has just the right amount of tools, not to big. Especially useful are the saw (which will cut through just about anything), the scissors (will easily trim finger and toe nails), and the best can opener in the knife business, even better than a "John Wayne". After I retired I went to work as a contractor training international military people. In my job I travel a lot and many times it's to 3rd world countries. This little knife has been invaluable during those trips. Everything from fixing bad bathroom and electrical fixtures to opening cans of food, to cleaning fish and slicing fruit. I have not babied this knife in anyway and it has met every challenge. I have used it a lot in and around salt water and if you just rinse it off, it doesn't rust. The blades are sharp and easy to sharpen. I think the only tool I haven't ever used is the Hook thing? Not sure what that is to be honest and would rather have a Phillips head screwdriver in its place. My knife came with a more subdued red color (see picture) vs. the bright red you see here? Plus I didn't get (or want) a pouch. The bottom line is I've carried this little knife around the world and have used it almost daily with great results. Add to this a machete and I feel like 99% of your cutting needs in a survival situation would be met.

Because history matters
Having lost my original after 30 years, I had replaced it with a different version, I realized that I had memorized where all the tools were by feel. Thus I must say thanks for still making them.

Good service
Came right on time just as advertised. I was a little nervous because of aggravation with a previous seller but it came through. The pouch is much like one for a cell phone and the loop doesn't button but does get closed tight by pressure. Some of the blades are hard to see and need a little searching as they easily mistaken for bulwarks in the handle. It can also be a bit tough to open. This comes easier when one remembers that some functions are meant to be opened from grips closer to the ends like the hook and the saw while the scissors(which with the main blade are the tools most likely to be used for urban chores like package opening) is best got at simply by opening the saw first. Another thing to remember is that the white and grey marks on the end opposite the Swiss flag Victorinix logo are not just decoration but a detachable toothpick and tweezers. On the whole I am pleased. This is the best line of knife I have. The large blade and the scissors are my favorite as they can do any normal task(to get proper use out of it you have to carry it about wherever you go otherwise when you want it it will not be there). The saw I mainly use on cardboard; sometimes it is needed when cutting up boxes for recycle. The awl interestingly enough I found a few uses for. I could add loops to my belt. I also put holes in the envelope of tool cards so they can be stored together by running a wire ring through them. And so on. You can find plenty of tasks you like for it.

This is my fourth SAK. I love them.
This is my fourth SAK and I love how much I can get done with one of these. The addition of having a belt clip on is great for keeping my knife from scratching up my phone. Or if I’d wear pants without pockets I can clip the holder to my sleeve or elsewhere. It had a metal button to hold it closed. This is an official victorinox product in traditional mass production packaging. Nothing fancy from a packaging perspective but ultimately very useful. Only pitfall is that the belt case doesn’t feel as premium as you’d expect a SAK to be. Still very good and doesn’t feel anymore bulky than a nokia brick phone.

SAK - still the best multitool.
This is still one of the most best "multitools" out there. It has a great set of tools in a package that isn't too small, isn't too large. I have a number of "pliers-style" multitools, but they generally stay in my 72-hour bag because I find them bulky and heavy for everyday carry in a pocket, and they are awkward to use as a knife because of the bulk of the frame. This SAK suffers from none of those problems, and yes you sacrifice pliers, but you get everything else you might need if a package that fits perfectly in the hand and in the pocket. I'm never that far from a set of a pliers anyway unless I'm deep in the woods... and the last time I needed pliers deep in the woods, the hook on this baby would have done what I needed (pull a mess kit pot out of a campfire).I don't use the pouch, but the knife does fit perfectly in it. Nice and snug fit with a solid, tight snap - just the kind of nice fit you expect from Victorinox.I got this on a Cyber Monday deal to replace my 30-year old SAK... which had nothing wrong with it apart from the fact it lacked the saw and hook of this model. I don't leave home without it.
