Santa had to find a purple basketball...argh!!!
Well, imagine my surprise when I looked at my daughter's letter to Santa, and she asked for a purple basketball. Really? Purple? I figured, okay, I'll just Google "purple basketball" and be done with it.Wrong-ola. So what next? I went to local sports stores...okay, THE local sports store--they're closing down everywhere because, I suspect, the internet provides better options. Nothing. Zip. What could the store manager be thinking? Purple basketball = big sales...seems obvious to me, right?Back to Google. Hmmm, pink and purple--nope. Needs to be purple. Oh, here's a purple basketball--nope, I need to buy a dozen. A dozen? Who sells basketballs by the dozen? And then, a thousand or so pages into Google (I exaggerate a wee bit here for effect), I find the MacGregor Multi-Color Outdoor Rubber basketball--in purple! (I'm not very good about sizing, so I had to do a bit more research to find out if an "intermediate size, 28.5 inches" was really the right size, and it's just so close that I couldn't tell once I inflated it.)My daughter loved it (though oddly enough she could tell what it was in spite of the clever wrapping job--well, not that clever, I guess). So, as far as basketballs go, it's rubber, designed for rough play, probably not even made to last all that long but definitely sturdy enough to get some good use. But read the other reviews before you decide. There was one review that mentioned something about marks on the ball (a "property of" notice)...didn't bother my daughter at all but might someone else.I noticed some whitish marks from where the deflated ball's color seemed to fade a little during storage (like crease marks), but again, my daughter didn't seem to mind.Overall, I was excited by how much of a home run the basketball made (ewwww, mixing sports metaphors). So, I'm very very happy with it. But again, it's just a basketball. But purple...waaaaayyyyy cool!!!

Great outdoor ball
The media could not be loaded. Ball has been outside for the last few weeks, between artic cold and summer heat. No cracks, held its shape and air. Grip is still good given it’s being used almost daily on gravel and asphalt.

Decent ball but wrong color displayed.
Received it and inflated it with our own pump, good quality and performance so far. Just be sure to read the description for the color and not go off the pictures as the ball we wanted was grey as displayed in the photo but it was really a green ball.

Holds up well
I ordered this Intermediate size, but received the larger size. I contacted Amazon, and they sent the correct size the next day and told me not to worry about returning the one I received in error. Both of the basketballs are holding air like champs. We've got another leather bound basketball that needs every day before use, but we haven't had to add air to these since the first time we filled them up a week ago. They're super easy to clean when they get dirty, and so far haven't really scuffed up much from the concrete play area.

Good for street play🏀
I bought this for my 13yr old son who plays basketball ball all the time. It's the official size 29.5 which is normal size for basketball balls. It comes deflated so you do have to inflate which is easy to do. It's durable and nice textured and he likes the color so it's easy to spot when he's playing with a group of his friends. He uses it on concrete driveways, streets, and outside courts and so far no problems. Good price and fast shipping, I do recommend.

Didn't hold up to outside play...
Ball was well-played, but didn't hold up longer than 6m, however for the price, not sure I expected anything else. To my knowledge it was never abused (eg kicked, thrown against edged surfaces, etc). Ball was dribbled inside a lot, and saw use on concrete/asphalt outdoor courts.

Buy this
Here is one small suggestion. This ball comes fully deflated and it will have some ridges when first inflated. Before you give it as a gift, pump about ten pounds of pressure into it, let it sit a day, and then deflate it to the normal 7.5 to 8 pound pressure it needs. That will iron the ball out just fine. This is a good ten dollar ball. Ten dollar balls are not bulletproof. Never play with one inflated even as high as nine pounds or it will not live very long, and don't assume the pressure hasn't risen when you're outside on asphalt on a hot day.
