How to Play Bass Guitar: Everything You Need to Know to Play the Bass Guitar

I first found this book at the Dare County Library it was the only book on bass guitar in a sea of book about bass fishing, how could I not buy it? Anyway, this book doesn't mess around, it very quickly teaches you how to read standard notation, navigate the fretboard, memorize scale degrees and their location on the fretboard, and much much more. This book requires YOU to read and practice the little bits it gives you, which I value greatly. There is little fluff. Pair this book with some play-along time (you know what app I'm referring to) and you'll have an effective system for yourself.

Wish I just had the talent to not need a book to learn from. Glad I found this book. It has lots of good information and good lessons to learn from

thought it was a tab book. very much not...if you read music this is the book for you with the dialogue and basic learning skills this book is for first timers for sure.

I had no previous experience of playing bass guitar when I read this book. After 2 weeks of practicing on an acoustic, using 4 strings :), I bought my bass. The day I got the bass, I went to band practice at church, and got past the audition! Hows that for a learning curve, now I'm in the band! Thankyou to the author, simple to follow, easy to learn. When I was a young guy playing bass I knew the guy who wrote it he was my teacher he teach me how to read music the book is quite good for beginners
