Q: To track bodyfat, is it required to just do the 4 measurement ‘quick test’.. or can you do a full body measurement for more accuracy?

You can do it both ways. The quick version just takes into account four muscles but the correlation between these four muscles and the total muscles in the body is quite impressive. The quick version of measurement takes about 20 seconds to do while the total muscle measurements takes about 2-3 minutes. The full version will update the individual muscle test for every muscle.

Q: What is the battery life?

It varies. Some get a week or so out of it. Some get a few days. When the battery is low expect to charge it for up to half a day. They are introducing their next product that has a more efficient battery you should check into that as well. That one Should take up to two hours to charge.

Q: Will the use of conductive gel improve the readings?

I doubt it would be worth the extra effort/expense/mess. Conductive gel is most useful for sustained contacts, ekg, eeg, and such. Contact with the Aim is only for a few seconds per site. Since the norms behind the values reported by the Aim were calibrated using water it would be unclear how the values should be interpreted if gel did make a difference. To get the best readings, I shave the area being tested, use distilled water, press firmly enough to leave only a very light film of water between the device and my skin, but not so hard as to seriously compress the tissues I am trying to measure. In the tricky area (for me) of abdominal fat I measure six time in a row, throw out the first measure (usually the most discrepant), and take the median of the remaining five. Other areas may not require require multiple readings.

Q: Is there a instruction book? Mine did not come with one and I have no idea how to program it.
