Very Good Orchestral Strings
I just bought a Shen SB100 bass three months ago. This Shen is a laminated bass. It's not an expensive bass ($2200), but it's well regarded and very well made. I asked that Bel Canto strings be installed on the bass (since I was buying it new). I had never used Bel Cantos but I had read good reviews on the TalkBass.com forum. The Bel Cantos seemed to be very good, but they were a high tension string (in my opinion) and I was working a little too hard to press them down. Other Shen owners had said on the forum that sometimes you need to try out several brands of strings before you will find one that plays well and sounds good with your instrument. My next set of strings were D'Addario Kaplans. I felt they were an improvement over the Bel Cantos. Less tension and a great tone. But I wasn't happy with the response I was getting from the A and E strings.I had used Helicores in the past. I knew that they were a reliable all-around string. So I decided to get a set of Helicores.Since I liked the sound of the Kaplan D and G I decided to put together a "Hybrid" set using the Hellicores on A and E.It worked great and that is what I have stayed with now.I did put the Helicore G and D on as well and they were fine, but I really liked the sound of the Kaplans on G and D and since I had them and had the luxury of mixing and matching, that was my final choice. But, that all said, had I put on the Helicores right from the start I probably would have been content with those.

Great, affordable strings to make my bass sing.
I'm a big fan of these strings so far. I bought them to replace the old strings which had been on my bass for about 10 years. The Helicore orchestral mediums work well for my bass and sound good for orchestral playing. The D'addario brand is a good alternative to the European brands which have gone up in price over the last few years. These were less expensive than offerings from Pirastro, Corelli, or Thomastik. They are also high quality, much better than cheap brands like Super Sensitive. I might like to try D'addario Kaplans next time I need new strings, as they are supposedly a step up from Helicores.

Great strings and a very reasonable price
These are great strings for orchestral playing that are not quite as stiff as normal orchestral strings. They were just what I needed. They also have a good sound for plucking.

My favorite Brand! Helicore Rocks!!!!
After 3-6 months of performances, I remove them from my Upright Bass and make Basslet Bracelets out of them. These strings hold up on Stage and ON your wrist!!!!! Helicore Rocks!!!!

Very Very Good Strings!!
Very impressed with the punch in pizzicato and smoothness in arco response. Have played Bass Violin for many decades -- mainly used Pirastro through the years, but these are very good! Will buy again.

Great for orchestral playing
The medium tension is comfortable to play. Nice response to the bow. Stay in tune. Worth the money.

Very responsive, good tone quality, very satisfying playing experience.
I restarted playing after a 20-year lapse, and these strings were recommended to me as being "easy on the hands," which was important, because I was recovering from arthritis surgery.I have found these strings to provide excellent bow response and very good tonal quality throughout the range of the instrument. I later added a low C extension to the bass and purchased a Helicore low-tension extended C, which performed equally as well.I have been delighted with the D'Addario strings. I may try Kaplans in the future.

Best strings for the price
Great stings at a great price. I did a lot of research on which strings sounded best for orchestra playing. There is a lot of debate, but these ranked fairly high and the price was outstanding.

good for what it says on the box
I bought these for an upright electric bass - the NXT4 where the stock strings are too bright and electricy. What that bass needs is dull strings and these, being orchestral fit the bill well. If you wanted to save money and were playing eg bluegrass or rock and roll,a cheap £15 set form china would sound almost as good but not last as long (or have the harmonics). I don;t expect to change these for three to four years in normal use (my last set on a normal double bass lasted five with full tonality even with regular gigging)

Cuerdas apagadas
Un sonido muy opaco y apagado. Si eres solista mejor compra Thomastick. Para arco si suenan bien.
