The writer of the Shield and the producer of the Sopranos bring you the most ruthless adrenaline-packed new drama of 2009. With over 40 minutes of unaired scenes, the DVD takes you even deeper in the unexplored world of this outlaw Californian Motorcycle Club as its members struggle to balance family life and weapon-trafficking business. Review: Start at the beginnig. Download the 1st season. By the 3rd episode I guarantee you'll be hooked. - SOA should be watched from the beginning. Season 1, episode 1, and so on. Kurt Sutter is the creator of SOA and he wrote or co-wrote every episode as well as played Otto Delaney. A club member who is in prison at the start of the show. He is also Katy Sagal's real life husband. Katy plays Gemma Teller who is married to Ron Perlman's character Clyde Morrow. Katy also played the wife on the show 'Married With Children'. SOA is well written with surprises and dangers around every turn. The MC aka SAMCRO =(sons of anarchy motorcycle club redwood original) . Almost from the beginning you start to feel like part of the family. That is what they are, a close family who takes care of each other. They also keep Charming, the make believe town, close to Modesto and Stockton and Nevada, safe and drug free. The show is centered around Jax Teller, played by Charlie Hunnum, Gemma's son with JT, John Teller who died under suspicious circumstances when Jax was just a kid. SPOILER ALERT. Gemma married Clyde really fast after he died. It's a really good show, the actors are great, very believable. The whole cast fit together perfectly right from the start. I highly recommend this show to everyone, not young children though. The first time I watched SOA it was on FX and I watched it while it was airing on TV one episode a week. (That took so long). The 2nd through 10th time I streamed it through HBO and STARS and AMC. Now I think you have to buy it Season by season. It's not very expensive, $12.-$14. each season, with a lot of episodes. Review: Great show - Great show

Submit ... Watch SOA!
I would see previews for this show in the past while watching other FX programming and, for some reason, it did not appeal to me. During the 7th, and last, season, I saw comments on my Facebook wall that friends had posted and most were unfavorable toward it and I thought, "Well, I'm glad I never watched." That has all changed. On a whim, I ordered Season 1 on Blu-Ray. Oh, first I tried Episode 1, Season 1 on Prime, but for some reason, the sound was so horribly tinny and hollow through my surround sound system - grating on my nerves - that I could not watch more of them. But, I thoroughly enjoyed the Pilot and was craving more. I guess that was my "whim". Finished Season 1 now - sound much better from the disks - and have started Season 2. I figure I'll end up with all 7 before all is said and done. I am hooked. Sought out images and made myself a nice Sons of Anarchy Screen Saver for my PC. Cannot get enough. The show can be crude, but what I look for in good television is character development and interaction along with an engaging storyline ... one where you can't wait for the next episode. Sons of Anarchy has got that! Lots of it. The nuanced chaos makes it fabulous. On the one hand, I am teed off at myself for having waited so long. On the other, I now have 5+ seasons more still to enjoy. This show is a perfect binge-watcher! Just so you know where my tastes run, some of my other favorite all-time shows would include, 24, Justified, Lost, Homeland, and Dexter. The cast is phenomenal. There is action, love, and intrigue. You will be drawn in. *** Very basic primer so that maybe you won't start off as confused as I did. Set in a town not too far from Oakland, CA - Charming [fictional] - The Sons of Anarchy are a motorcycle club, also referred to as SAMCRO - Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Originals. The local Sheriff is in their pocket, and in return, the club keeps out drugs and supports the community. Rival out-of-town gangs include the Niners and Mayans ... and the battles ensue. SOA runs a repair business in town Teller-Morrow automotive. Teller, after deceased founder, John Teller [whose son is now VP], and Morrow after current President, Clay Morrow. Take it from there ... it gets awesome!

Charming bikers
I usually avoid gangster or biker shows, yet Sons of Anarchy (as well as The Sopranos) is one of my favorites. The quality of the drama transends the subject matter, and the characters of Jax and Clay take on the stature of Hamlet and Claudius. In the Northern California town of Charming (really), a weak police force has a tacit arrangement with the "motorcycle club" The Sons of Anarchy, also known as Samcro (Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original). The cops look the other way on Samcro's gun running and occasional internecine violence. In return, Samcro keeps drugs and other gangs out of Charming. The plot intricasies are far more complex, however, and herein the episodes become addictive. Internally, the Sons and their associates get wound up in twists that beggar your average soup opera, and the club's external adversaries grow more numerous and deadly, including rival gangs (excuse me, clubs), neo-nazis, the ATF, and gosh-and-begorrah, the Irish Republican Army. Somehow this all makes sense in delightfully suprising and suspenseful ways. One of the many worthy features of SoA, is its capture of the sense of brotherhood shared by club members who wear the "cut", the sleeveless jacket flying the colors of the club. The show reveals this repeatedly, in various ways, including a gruesome episode depicting the fate of an excommunicated member who failed to black out his "reaper" tattoo. The cast is solid, with Ron Perlman, Katey Segal, Maggie Siff, and other familiar faces. Although this is technically a review of Season One, look for a hilarious cameo by Stephen King in Season Two. A caveat, though, is if you dislike representations of violence on your screen, this is not for you. Violence is swift, often, and deadly. This is somewhat softened by a sense of humor and irony which pervades the episodes, and an examination of the fatal flaws of the club, voiced most often by one of the major characters, Jax, who is the club vice-president, and his "old lady" , Tara, who is a medical doctor. The romance between the biker and the doctor is a bit difficult for me to buy, but it seems to work in Charming. Bottom line, if you like action, scheming, and a peek into a dangerous and exciting wild west town, you can't lose with Samcro.

Per me un must have.

This show isn't on TV in Canada but I heard about it through a motorcycle forum and then noticed our video store had it. I found myself saying during the first 3 episodes, "why are you watching this trailer trash?" (I didn't need more shows to be addicted to), but being a rider myself and interested in the life of MCs, I gave it the first disc. Well I am now hooked. This is one amazing series with well know actors, great acting, and lots of action. I suppose one of the reasons I love this show is that I feel like a voyeur looking into the life of an MC. It has a way of making you feel like you are one of the family looking in. I can see the attraction to joining an MC as the show does a fine job of portraying the sense of belonging and family that so many long for. On the other hand, some of the things this family does is hard to watch - it still is a criminal gang that engages in gun running, murders, torture, and the porn industry (thankfully tho that is short lived). This is a gritty show like The Shield was. If you liked The Shield, you'll love SOA. I just finished re-watching Season 1 which made more sense to me this time - all the relationships, business deals, and gang rivalries. The DVD set is worth getting for the Special Features - the bikes, the ink, the set, etc. This is a unique show that will be a classic!
