Apple USB-C to USB Adapter

Recently, I got a set of Turtle Beach gaming headphones that work with all modern consoles and PC through a little dongle, and also have Simultaneous Bluetooth connectivity to hook up to my iPhone. This is very important to me because I'm partially blind and hate taking off my headphones to hear my screen reader, VoiceOver, read notifications or other things, like dialog text in games which I use my iPhone's camera to scan and read through Microsoft's Seeing AI app. Anyway, I agonized over getting the Turtle Beach set or one by Steel Series because the TB headset has a USB A dongle, and Steel Series has a USB C dongle. In undocked mode, my Switch only has a USB C port. I bought the TB anyway, and love them. I then scoured the internet for a USB to USB C adapter, but could only find the opposite of this until I happened across Apple's adapter. To save a couple bucks I ordered used, like new from Amazon warehouse and am absolutely thrilled at the result! I don't find it especially awkward to have the adapter, which is very short, then the dongle dangling from my Switch; it doesn't get in the way in my experience. It functions perfectly, and I couldn't be more pleased. One bonus, which I plan to test soon, is that I might be able to plug in a USB A thumb or hard drive into my iPhone's USB C port! Overall, I could not be more pleased!

i have an Apple CD w/USB (circa 2015) that i used with my iMac, but the computer gave up. so got a new 24" iMac, but it has thunderbolt USB-C, so i got this hoping, and it WORKS ! it does what i wanted.

I purchased this to be able to plug in a a 4TB Seagate disk drive to my new Mac Mini because the Mac Mini only has (2) USB-A style ports. This adapter works great however when the mac mini goes to sleep it stops supplying power to the disk drive so it spins down. When the computer wakes back up I get an error message saying that the disk drive was improperly disconnected and it is no longer on the desk top. Very Frustrating. The only way around this that I'm aware of is to instead purchase a Thunderbolt to USB dock that has it's own power adapter so that the disk drives continue to get power all the time even during sleep.

Does not fit all USB.

I've had this for about a week and since it didn't seem to connect to my external hard drive (my backup drive and the reason I bought the adapter) I was going to return it. I have a Macbook Pro 2023 so I thought maybe it was not compatible. I tried with my sister's computer (a slightly older Macbook Pro) and it still didn't seem to work, but the hard drive worked with a cheap usb-c to usb hub she had. This was a Seagate hard drive so I tried my WD hard drives and they seem to work, although it takes a while to load and mount onto the desktop. I then took swapped the usb cord from the WD one to the Seagate and it now works. Very strange. Maybe I didn't wait long enough on my sister's computer. Now the problem is that it keeps disconnecting and then connecting continuously. The screen is being filled with messages telling me to eject before disconnecting. This drive works fine on my older computer so I guess the adapter doesn't like the Seagate brand.
