High Quality Piece
This was/is definitely an extravagance in my opinion, and I knew that when I bought it. It's more expensive that its plain old steel counterparts, but it does look very cool. I installed a new stainless steel 2" ball on it (I found 1" nylon flat washers so I've eliminated any dissimilar metals concern). It was a little snug going into the receiver, but that may say more about the receiver. The ball mount that came with the hitch fits fine, but since it came with the hitch, it should. I have a short towing season (4-5 months), and will remove it before/after that, so I'm not too concerned about the effects of the weather or the salt water (though the salt water shouldn't be an issue; if the aluminum ball mount is getting dunked, you've got problems bigger than it being aluminum). Other than that, I lock it in and leave it. Works fine, and the rise is just right for my package.

Andersen Hitches - USA made - protect your investment and liability.
Purchased to tow my dad’s fishing boat. Works great. Coupled it with a stainless steel ball. It looks fantastic, especially if you have chrome on your rear bumper. No rust worry. Capable to 8,000 lbs. Most half ton trucks won’t be pulling / towing more than this. If you are going to pull / tow more than 8,000 lbs consider another Andersen hitch or B&W ball mount hitches - another great US company. Trucks, trailers, and boats are not cheap so why would you use a cheap foreign piece of crap ball mount hitch? Not to mention the liability. You want the best with a great price tag...it is still US made right here...Andersen Hitches! Great vendor with fast shipping.

WORTH THE COST
This hitch costs about twice what the average (black/rusty) hitch costs, but it is worth it.I am on hitch#2 for this vehicle, so if I had bought this with the first time I would have been even by now. Instead, I had to sledge-hammer the hitch loose, because the rust was so bad, and buy a new ball and hitch. The tow capacity on this is 8000lbs/800lbs tongue - far more than I will ever tow, so no worries there. I love that it is light and rust-free. Is slightly looser than previous hitch (as some other reviewers have stated), but I think that comes down to the metal expanding as the hitch and receiver rust-out. When my other hitch was new it was loose as well.Good hitch, and good looking!

Form AND Function, who cares which comes first!
Form and function all in one; most people don't realize it, but chrome rusts, and rusts badly. Unless it has a high nickel content (think BMW motorcycle trim) chrome alloys are inherently porous, so if they're not polished and waxed regularly, they will pit and rust worse than painted steel. These drop bars completely eliminate that potential eyesore, and are actually very attractive. I've had more questions and compliments on my Alumistinger than any other component or modification on my SUV, so it obviously looks good. Fortunately it performs just as well; it hasn't cracked, corroded, discolored, or attacked neighboring vehicles, so I can only say that it does the job and does it well. I don't know what else you can ask for...

Beautiful, well made product
"Beautiful" is a strange term for utilitarian products like hitches but the design of this is truly a work of art. I've owned dozens of the nasty black (then rusty) hitches (I owned an equipment rental store)--your hands get dirty handling them then you put your nasty hands on your high-dollar leather-wrapped steering wheel--no such problem here. I bought this hitch and a stainless steel ball (from Amazon, naturally) because I wanted the business end of my 2013 Avalanche to look as good as the rest of the truck. Yeah, it costs maybe 20 bucks more than the nasty hitch but what did you pay for your truck? Another benefit is that this hitch is rated for heavier tow loads than most steel hitches. Buy this; you'll be happy!Update 3 years later: Still looks great (including stainless ball) after three salty Ohio winters. It's no longer shiny like new but not expected to be so since it's just a mill finish--the picture is of the actual hitch and ball in May, 2016 after many miles and 3 winters. The rust on the ball isn't from the ball, its from the hitch on the trailer.

Wont ever rust....sold
Item arrived pretty quick under the circumstances. A lot lighter than the steel competition and looks great. Was looking for polished stainless steel or chrome when i came across this as an excellent alternative since it will never rust and just a few minutes of polishing makes it look brand new again. Love my new drop hitch.

Excellent ball mount; well machined; matte or satin finish would be more attractive.
Bought this for Jeep Wrangler JKU. Much lighter than heavy steel mounts. Like the no-rust aluminum. High quality manufacture. Angle cut at end looks funny but is OK once into receiver. As another reviewer said, this mount is relatively short. It positions the ball close to the Jeep spare, which would be a problem if you have oversized or fat tires. My trailer fits perfectly with 2" ball however the flip-up release lever is close to the spare (32" diameter). If you have a screw-tightener type hitch you should have no problem. Obviously this is only an issue for Jeeps or similar vehicles (e.g. Land Rover Defender, Discovery) with outside spares.Only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the high polish finish is too showy for my taste. Someone asked me where i got the "chrome trailer hitch." Ouch. Would much prefer a flat anodized finish. Will probably paint it. Also a bit pricey; might cost a bit less if manufacturer had not spent labor/ machine time on polishing.

Long Lasting Bling
Had for a year. Looks new despite never being removed from truck-through 2 offroad summers and 1 salty Ontario winter. Paired with a stainless ball and this ball/hitch assembly still looks new, not like a rusty hunk o' crap like every other one. PS bought a stainless dog-bone lock pin so the thieves don't make off with it!!! My only truck "bling".
