This thing is awesome.
After reading the negative reviews, I was weary of this but I'm so g.ad I got it. I think it's awesome. I was so tired of a raised toilet seat. It's still new but so far works perfectly. Sensors are very reactive. The seat is large and sits higher than our previous seat but I'm tall so I love that! Going to try it for several more days and if it still is great we will be replacing other toilet seats in our house! If not, I'll update my review.Update: we have them on all toilet seats now! It’s important to charge at least every 2 weeks as they stop responding as the battery fades.

Pretty bad
So the other reviews are correct, this closes way too fast. It is pretty unpleasant when it closes in the middle of pissing. Like other buyers, mine stopped working after about 2 months. The upside is it is very easy to install. While it was working, it worked well and aside from closing too fast.

Two Defective Batteries And A Product That Doesn't Work
Despite all of the negative and middling reviews, I decided to take the plunge and buy this product knowing that I might wind up disappointed. I liked the idea of not having to touch the toilet seat and lid so much that I thought it would be worth it. Plus, the cool factor. Unfortunately, the negative reviews are all spot on! This COULD BE a really cool, useful product, and for the price I don't think you could beat it. That is, IF it was better designed and didn't have so many serious flaws. I received the seat and immediately found that the included battery was DOA. Even after being plugged directly into the charger before use for over 48 hours (twice as long as the manual states), it never took a charge. At all. This was even confirmed with my multimeter which showed absolutely ZERO charge from the battery. And without the battery, the 12.56 volts that the charger puts out won't properly operate the seat and lid. I would stand in front of the seat and the seat would raise, then lurch back (toward the close position) about an inch, make a grinding motor sound (apparently attempting to open or close something) and then SLAM shut. And when either the seat or lid closes, it closes LOUD and HARD (NO soft close on this thing, which IMO is a major design error). It would do this lid open, grinding noise, and almost immediately SLAM shut time after time. Completely unusable, so I unplugged the charger from the seat and operate the lid and seat manually, which defeats the whole purpose for this product.I called iTouchless and explained the problems and I have to give them credit .. they shipped me a whole new seat, battery, and charger. Got the second seat after about a week and initially the battery wouldn't charge. At all. But finally after 30 hours, the battery was fully charged (exceeding the time the manual states for the initial charge by 6 hours) and I placed it into the seat. It worked properly for 1 and one half days and then nothing. No power at all. For a battery that is supposed to give about 3 weeks of use before recharging is necessary. I attempted to charge the battery again. Nothing! Even after another 30 hours (subsequent charges after the initial 24 hour charge are only supposed to take 8 hours) it would take no charge at all, again confirmed by my multimeter. So, dead battery #2. TERRIBLE track record, iTouchless! 2 out of 2 complete failures. I attempted to just plug the charger directly into the seat and operate it that way, but then it was back to the problem with the first seat -- lid opens, lurches back one inch, makes a grinding noise, then immediately SLAMS shut (LOUD!! and hard). I then decided to try an experiment and attached a universal DC power supply that puts out 15 volts. At that point, the seat and lid operate properly. So, the seat needs more than the 12.56 volts that the charger puts out to operate properly, and the battery is obviously needed to at least put out an additional 2-3 volts to operate properly. With a COMPLETELY dead battery, it just will not work! So, thanks to Amazon's excellent customer service return policy, I was able to return it for a complete refund. My advice for anyone thinking of trying this product is to wait and see if they completely overhaul the bugs and design errors and defective batteries. It COULD BE such a cool product, and I might have even kept it and used it without a battery and my universal power supply of 15 volts if the seat and lid were soft close and didn't SLAM so LOUD and HARD! An early morning visit to the loo wakes up everyone in the house! I may just spend the extra and upgrade to the far superior and more useful Toto S350e, or something like it.As to the customer service .. iTouchless DID initially stand behind the product, but eventually (after the second failed battery) told me that I should just return it to Amazon. Also, they could have saved money and just sent me a new battery and charger instead of a whole new package with a seat. Unfortunately, as I said above, the batteries really appear to not be reliable. At all! Really, a shame.

OK Im Happy Now.
Great item. I'm not a germaphobe but I never have to touch the toilet seat ever to lower it or raise it or falling into the bowl thinking the seat was down and the cover stays closed when not is use (which I also love) It opens the cover just by standing in front of it and if the boys want to have the seat raised...they just pause their hand above the light on the raised lid and then the seat goes up... after leaving about 30 seconds later both the lid and seat closes. I never thought about the price but friends considered me a little eccentric but to me geez it worth every penny. If I had to list CONS there are several I would mention. 1. the technology is battling on mounting it to the toilet bowl...the adjustment guides kept moving and would not stay adjusted no matter what we did.so we use some silicone caulk to prevent this movement and so far it has worked. It was only plastic so you cant over tighten it. 2. The seat and lid is plastic and so it feels different from our old wood seat and I hope it will be as lasting as wood but only time will tell.... 3. Since the lid and seat closes 30 seconds after you leave...and it does make a noise as it lands on the bowl, visitors have asked "What was that noise?" since its coming from an unoccupied room... and it might wake you up at night if others are using it but I think over time I'll get used to it. 4. Sometimes when I get too close while retrieving items from the above cabinet...it will open but that's my fault..it can't read my mind so I'm learning to stand outside the sensors range if I need to get something from the cabinet. but overall its a great product with more pros than cons... and the best part is No more falling into the bowl at 3AM

Very novel
Good quality, but sometimes doesn't open all the way...sometimes tries to eat me while I'm in sitting mode...bought two and one lasted for a few months and now won't work at all...over all it's a good product and you're guests will be impressed, but I always have to teach them how to use the toilet seat...great topic for discussion...

Best toilet seat!
Six years since I purchased this toilet seat. Highly recommended, easy to clean and saves relationships if you don’t want issues over the seat being left up.

Still working great...........
For those who have had a bad experience with this product, I am truly sorry that you weren't able to receive the true quality of this product. I purchased my iTouchless toilet seat in March of 2013 and I can say that this product is still working great for me. It has always done what it is suppose to do and I've had no problems with it. I love this toilet seat so much that I am going to purchase another one for my 2nd bathroom. Truly, it does work very well.
