Fixed our LED down light flickering
We had issues with a GB electrical 3 way dimmer. The most used switch started to fail causing the lights to flicker. I replaced the individual dimmer with this and it’s so much better than the GB one. The feel is smoother, dimmable range is adjustable and programmable (default worked right out of the box for me) and we have zero flicker on any setting. It’d be too expensive to replace every dinner in the house with this but any time they fail I will - Worked perfectly so far.Dimming may be a bit slow for some people but it’s hardly a deficiency - It actually dims in smaller increments so gives you the opportunity to choose the level more easily.Only downside is that when being used with GB electrical plates (which are nice, thick quality) the threaded section doesn’t protrude much, but it’s not a big deal.Hopefully reliability on this won’t be an issue but I’ll need to wait a few years to see…

Good dimmers but expect latency
The media could not be loaded. These are great little dimmers, smaller than the 20 year old MKs they are replacing (but different 10mm thread). The programming features are very useful but expect a start up delay (latency) of 1s to 2s after pushing the button. This is with quality, Crompton filament dimmable LED bulbs which start up in less than 0.5s on a switch. The dimmer has a soft start (checked using and incandescent bulb) during which the LED bulb doesn't light. Customer service say this is normal for LEDs and can't change the soft start. Tried various modes and settings to no effect. Annoying but liveable. Maybe other bulbs fare better.Video shows ceiling light on a simple on/off switch and 1 of 3 wall lights on this dimmer. Same bulb type.

Silent
I’m an electrician and bought this to swap over a noisy dimmer for a customer, it was completely silent no buzzing at all and the dimming range was really good. Also no flickering at all when dimmed right down. Even though the range can be programmed I never bothered it was fine on the settings it came with. I would definitely buy one of these if you need a LED dimmer as some dimmers are just headache.

Dimming is exceptionally slow
This is my second time to install this product and the first dimmer I installed continues to work well after about a year of use. The product is easy to install. Also, the product dims a fair range of light brightness and I experience no flicker with any of the bulbs I have installed. The downside as compared with other dimmers I have is that when adjusting the dimmer, the reaction time is considerably delayed. This makes adjusting the dimming rather hit and miss. After adjustment is made, you then need to wait a second to see the result. As well, this results in a delay of a second for lights to turn on. However, with my other dimmers lights turn on and adjust instantaneously.

I’ve seen the light
We now have our lights working again having been able to keep the surface plate. Installation is just common sense with a suitable screwdriver. Ours would be more difficult than some because we had 4 behind one plate.

Read the instructions
Not a regular dimmer switch. This has different settings and ways of setting the brightness etc. Seemed complicated at first but follow the instructions and you get the desired result

Straight forward replacement.
Just fitted this as replacement to one of another brand which, whilst not old, had begun to randomly not click on. The Varilight version is smaller which is a bonus for my installation, also, it worked perfectly when powered on and didn't need to have the minimum brightness set.EDIT 11/2021I’ve noticed that there’s a discrepancy in the low light output which is dependent on how the switch is used.If the device is off and set to low, upon switching it on, it goes to the set dimmed level. However, if the device is set to full brightness when off then switched on, turning it down to the minimum setting does not dim the brightness as expected.I experienced this issue with filament led bulbs and suspected it was them but standard dimmablE led bulbs behave the same. Not such a big deal now I know how to deal with it.
